Data Broker Remote information

What is a data broker?

A Data Broker is a professional or company that collects, processes, and sells information about individuals or organizations, often for marketing, analytics, or risk management purposes. When working remotely, Data Brokers use digital tools to gather data from various online sources, compile databases, and provide insights to clients without being tied to a physical office. Their responsibilities may include verifying data accuracy, ensuring privacy compliance, and delivering customized datasets to meet client needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a data broker remote?

To thrive as a Data Broker (Remote), you need a strong background in data analysis, research, and understanding of data privacy regulations, often supported by a degree in information technology, business, or a related field. Familiarity with data management platforms, CRM systems, and tools like SQL or Excel is typically required. Excellent negotiation, communication, and ethical judgment are key soft skills that distinguish top performers in this role. These abilities ensure effective sourcing, evaluation, and exchange of valuable data while maintaining compliance and client trust in a remote environment.

What are the typical data privacy challenges faced by remote data brokers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Data Brokers often encounter challenges related to ensuring data privacy and complying with regulations such as GDPR and CCPA, especially when handling sensitive or personally identifiable information. Working remotely can add complexity, as data security depends on both the broker's home setup and company protocols. To address these challenges, it's crucial to use encrypted connections, adhere to strict access controls, and stay updated on relevant data protection laws. Employers typically provide secure tools and regular training, but it's also important for remote Data Brokers to proactively communicate with IT and legal teams to uphold best practices.

Summary:

NFPโ€™s Professional Liability practice is seeking a licensed P&C Broker to support placements across Management Liability, Cyber, and Professional Liability lines of coverage. This role can sit remote, hybrid, or in-office, with a preference for candidates based on the East Coast or near an NFP office.

This is an opportunity for a broker who can operate with a high level of independence, managing their own book of business while continuing to build expertise in complex professional liability exposures. The role is best suited for an individual early to mid-career who is ready for increased responsibility and hands-on broking experience, but who is still looking to deepen their technical knowledge across these lines.

The team is seeking someone who can come in with a strong foundation, contribute immediately, and grow into a more specialized broker over time. Candidates may come from a generalist background or a smaller brokerage environment, with exposure to multiple lines of coverage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proactively coordinate broking around the renewal cycle in accordance to NFPโ€™s service model standards and timelines
  • Support placement of Management Liability, Cyber, and Professional Liability programs, developing go-to-market strategies for each client or prospect
  • Negotiate with insurance carriers to secure competitive terms, conditions, and pricing, while building a strong understanding of client risk profiles
  • Partner with account management teams to prepare and market submissions, respond to underwriter inquiries, and evaluate carrier quotes
  • Analyze coverage options and present clear, strategic recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Assist in preparing proposals, coverage comparisons, and client-facing materials
  • Respond to client inquiries and support issue resolution in a timely and professional manner
  • Review binders and policies to ensure accuracy of terms and conditions
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and renewal discussions as part of the broking team
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, wholesalers, and internal partners
  • Build working knowledge of the professional liability marketplace, including emerging trends in cyber and management liability
  • Support cross-sell and upsell opportunities across NFPโ€™s broader platform
  • Maintain accurate and organized client and broking data within internal systems

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex coverage concepts clearly
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills, with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Foundational knowledge of P&C coverages; exposure to management liability, cyber, or professional liability is preferred but not required
  • Ability to learn quickly and build technical expertise over time
  • Positive, proactive attitude with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Epic a plus

Education and/or Experience:ย

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of three to five years insurance experience
  • Background as a generalist broker or experience across multiple lines

Certificates, Licenses, Registration:

  • P&C License requiredย
