What is the Opportunity?
Securities Based Lending is a key business for RBC Bank that provides adjudication and servicing of Securities Based Lending for U.S. Wealth Management clients. The role of Analyst, SBL Reporting and Product Support reports into the Senior Manager, SBL Product and Data Owner.
The Analyst, SBL Reporting and Product Support supports the Senior Manager, SBL Product & Data Owner to drive continuous improvement in critical business applications (e.g., CoMs, CCMS, Creditlink, Collateral Manager) and ensures robust data governance, analytics, and compliance. This role bridges business strategy, technology, and data governance to enable scalable, insightful, and compliant SBL operations.
What will you do?
Analytics & Business Intelligence
  • Tool Expertise: Utilize SQL, Tableau, Snowflake, Power BI, and other platforms to gather, clean, and analyze data.
  • Risk & Performance Frameworks: Maintain and recommend enhancements to frameworks for Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), KPIs, and portfolio limits.

Portfolio Management Support
  • Portfolio Insights: Enhance MIS environments with policy exception reporting, performance tracking, and vintage analysis to support active portfolio management.
  • Audit & Regulatory Support: Provide reporting for audits, regulatory requests, and operations as needed.

Business Application Improvements
  • Data Model Management: Support Product Owner in maintaining the EODC Collateral Data model and GFT data flows, ensuring accuracy for downstream systems (e.g., Core, CITADL, Axiom).
  • System Enhancements: Collaborate with Product Owners to improve/test applications and ensure data availability for reporting.
  • Release Validation: Represent the business during core application releases/hot fixes to validate data integrity, feeds, and policy adherence.

Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Data Consultation: Advise 1LOD, 2LOD, and IT partners on data sourcing and usage for reporting.
  • Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve data discrepancies with upstream/downstream partners.
  • Data Compliance: Ensure adherence to enterprise data retention and destruction standards for SBL data.
  • Analytics Advocacy: Promote data-driven decision-making across RBC to foster an analytics-centric culture.

SLA Monitoring & Third-Party Oversight
  • Proactive SLA Monitoring: Continuously track third-party performance against agreed SLAs.
  • Breach Reporting & Escalation: Document and report SLA breaches to management within defined timelines, including root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
  • Joint Governance Meetings: Conduct regular meetings with third-party representatives to review performance, discuss improvements, and align on future expectations.
  • Risk-Based Assessments: Evaluate third-party risks (e.g., cybersecurity, operational resilience) during SLA reviews and adjust monitoring frequency based on criticality.

Administrative Task Management
  • JIRA: Maintain and update JIRA stories for accurate project tracking.
  • Confluence: Organize and refresh Confluence pages to ensure accessible documentation.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with teams to align content with daily tasks and project goals.

This role bridges business strategy, technology, and data governance to enable scalable, insightful, and compliant SBL operations.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
  • 5+ years of relevant progressive systems and analytics experience, preferably within the financial industry and/or relevant line of business
  • Experience in statistical analysis and complex data interpretation with the ability to present information and insights to all layers of the organization in a concise, clear, and timely manner.
  • Proven ability to sift through data, identify critical information, analyze, develop hypotheses, and make recommendations required.
  • Ability to develop strong partnerships across a multi-layered organization required.
  • Advanced SQL skills required. Experience querying big data environments preferred (e.g. Hadoop, Hive, Impala, Snowflake, Databricks).
  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of all relevant business and SBL related operating systems (i.e. RIBS, CoMs, CCMS, Creditlink)
  • Experience applying statistical techniques examples include - regression analysis, clustering, attribution models, decision trees, ensembles, etc.
  • Experience with statistical languages (such as R, MATLAB, SPSS, SAS, Stata, etc.) preferred
  • Excellent task management capabilities to appropriately prioritize projects based on business impact and critical timelines
  • Experience in Product, Business Intelligence, and/or Marketing data analytics and mining.
  • Deep data mining and technical skills and experience translating data into consumable messages.
  • Superior and proven experience in the application of experimental design and statistical analysis of results coupled with strong understanding of technical skills in SAS, SQL, or Teradata.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning or Computer Science, or related degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
