Job description

As a Sr. Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of OT systems and IT technologies specific to Manufacturing and Quality operations. This includes expanding and optimizing applications such as Kepware, WinSPC, SQL Databases, and Aveva PI Historian, as well as programming tags on PLCs and HMIs, and pulling data directly from manufacturing machines.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Partner with Operations, Manufacturing, and Quality Engineering organizations to develop solutions through effective understanding of business and process requirements.

• Plan configuration of digital OT architecture and influence OT data strategy as technology evolves.

• Implement and support technical solutions related to MES and Historian systems.

• Stay abreast of the latest IT advancements and emerging technologies in industry and provide recommendations in support of Milwaukee Tool’s strategic goals.

• Resolve problems with OT data flow and applications.

• Provide consulting and guidance to end users to access or analyze data in useful ways.

• Produce documentation including process maps, data architecture maps, integration requirements, protocols/data specifications as needed.

• Build IT credibility by modeling professionalism, excellence, integrity, and passion.

• Manage technical deliverables for projects, contribute to project plan scope, and monitor performance for timely completion.

• Create dashboards and data views to show real-time information as required.

• Build relationships with business and IT partners on a global scale (US, Mexico, and Asia).

• Support the development of change management strategies and related documentation.

• Develop, influence, and support Industry 4.0 strategy.

• Contribute to and continuously improve a big-picture, multi-year OT data strategy.

• Serve as a subject matter expert for smart factory and connected operations.

• Travel Requirement: Up to 15%

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Management Systems, Computer Science, or Business Administration with an emphasis in technology.

• Minimum 8 years’ experience in an Information Technology field relevant to manufacturing operations.

• Understanding of core business processes such as Manufacturing, Quality, and Industry 4.0.

• Self-managed, self-starter, pro-active, and able to manage multiple concurrent activities with time constraints.

• Strong business engagement and professional written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

• Experience with API integrations.

• Experience designing, developing, and implementing OT architecture including integrations with ERP.

• Experience industrial automation processes, including protocols such as OPC, Modbus, MQTT, SCADA, and PLC programming.

• Proficiency in configuring and administering Kepware servers and drivers.

• Experience with the architecture of Aveva PI System (formerly OSIsoft PI), including PI Data Archive, PI Asset Framework (PI AF), PI Interfaces, and PI Vision.

• Ability to troubleshoot communication issues, diagnose problems with device connections, and debug configuration errors.

Other TOOLS We Prefer You to Have

• Direct shop floor experience with Manufacturing and Quality Engineering.

• Demonstrated proficiency establishing integrations between Oracle ERP and associated systems.

• Knowledge of networking concepts like TCP/IP, Ethernet, routers, switches, firewalls, and subnetting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
