Position SummaryWe're looking for a Data Architect to support the design, review, optimization, and evolution of an enterprise data environment for a federal government client - including data standards and models, Lakehouse architecture, pipeline design reviews, and metadata/lineage integration. Job location is the Washington, DC Metro Area. Hybrid or Remote options can be considered. Position is contingent upon contract award.Key ResponsibilitiesDefine data standards and models across the enterprise data environmentAdvise on and evolve a Medallion (Bronze–Silver–Gold) Lakehouse architectureReview pipeline designs for architectural consistency and scalabilityOversee metadata and lineage integration across the data platformSupport modernization efforts, including metadata catalog integration, managed database evaluation, and observability frameworksMaintain updated data architecture diagrams and documentation, and produce transition plans for architecture changesEnsure architecture recommendations reflect best practices for AWS-based Medallion/Lakehouse designs, interoperability, and applicable security, privacy, and auditability requirementsRequired QualificationsExtensive experience designing enterprise data architectures on AWS, including Medallion/Lakehouse patternsExperience with data modeling (relational and dimensional), metadata frameworks, and lineage/observability toolingExperience evaluating and recommending data platform modernization approaches (e.g., catalog tools, managed database services)Experience producing architecture diagrams, transition plans, and documentation for government or regulated environmentsStrong understanding of security, privacy, and auditability requirements as they apply to data architecturePreferred CertificationsAWS Certified Solutions Architect – ProfessionalDAMA CDMP – PractitionerAdditional RequirementsMust be able to pass a federal background investigation prior to starting work and maintain eligibility throughout the engagement.Salary range for this position is $150,000.00 - $160,000.00Work Authorization: At this time, we are unable to sponsor new H-1B visas or other employment-based visa petitions for this position.
