Job description

Why this role is important to us
The team you will be joining is part of a global, cross-divisional organization supporting State Street Alpha. Alpha redefines the concept of "alpha" by enabling better performance and outcomes across the entire investment lifecycle. As the market-leading, open front-to-back platform, Alpha connects front, middle, and back office capabilities, harmonizing data, technology, and services across trusted providers.
Alpha Data Services plays a critical role within Alpha by delivering managed data services to clients to scale. The ADI Project Manager is central to ensuring these services are implemented safely, predictably, and consistently, protecting client outcomes while enabling scalable growth.
This role is ideal for a delivery-focused program professional who thrives in complex, cross-functional environments and is motivated by ownership, accountability, and driving measurable outcomes across strategic client implementations.
Purpose of the Role
The ADI Project Manager is responsible for driving coordination and execution of a large, complex data workstream within a broader Alpha implementation program, ensuring alignment to delivery objectives set by the Implementation Lead.
This role ensures that all data-related activities, dependencies, and deliverables are planned, sequenced, and executed in alignment with program timelines, PMO standards, and implementation framework requirements. The project manager acts as the central point of coordination across multiple upstream and downstream workstreams, ensuring readiness for testing, migration, and go-live.
Responsibilities
Workstream Delivery Ownership
  • Own end-to-end project management and governance for the data workstream within Alpha Data Implementations, from initiation through CUAT, DiLT, and Go-Live
  • Drive delivery outcomes to ensure the workstream is delivered on time, within agreed scope, and to required quality standards
  • Own the critical path for the data workstream, proactively identifying constraints and replanning activities to protect key milestones and client readiness
  • Ensure alignment of all data activities across lifecycle phases, including design, build, testing, go-live readiness, and production conversion

Dependency & Cross-Workstream Coordination
  • Coordinate closely with upstream and downstream workstreams (e.g., front office, middle office, technology, integration, and testing teams) to manage interdependencies impacting data delivery
  • Define, track, and manage dependency milestones required for data ingestion, transformation, validation, and readiness for testing cycles
  • Actively manage sequencing plans and ensure alignment of deliverables across workstreams to support integrated program timelines
  • Escalate dependency-related risks and delays with clear impact assessments and recovery plans

Planning, Governance & PMO Alignment
  • Establish and maintain integrated workstream plans aligned to program timelines and PMO standards, including adherence to implementation framework phases and tollgates
  • Ensure all workstream deliverables are tracked to completion and appropriately documented to support program governance and assurance requirements
  • Maintain key artifacts including project plans, RAID logs, decision logs, and dependency tracking
  • Support change control, scope management, and impact assessments in alignment with program governance frameworks
  • Contribute to structured governance forums with clear status reporting, decision support, and escalation

Data Delivery Execution & Oversight
  • Oversee planning and execution of core data activities including data scope definition, environment readiness, data transformation, migration sequencing, and validation
  • Ensure readiness for integration, testing phases, and production conversion through disciplined planning and execution
  • Partner with SMEs and technical teams to validate delivery assumptions, resolve data issues, and ensure quality outcomes
  • Drive resolution of data-related risks, issues, and defects across lifecycle stages

Stakeholder & Client Engagement
  • Support client-facing delivery activities in partnership with the Implementation Lead, providing transparent updates on data workstream progress, risks, and milestones
  • Build strong relationships across Product, Operations, Technology, and client teams to ensure alignment and execution
  • Provide clear, structured communication to stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making and timely escalation

Financials, Resourcing & Reporting
  • Partner with the ADI PMO to monitor effort, resourcing, and financial burn against plan using Clarity
  • Support resource forecasting and capacity planning for the data workstream
  • Maintain high-quality reporting aligned to program governance standards

Continuous Improvement
  • Capture lessons learned post-CUAT and post-Go-Live and feed improvements into delivery standards and ways of working
  • Support the development of repeatable, scalable delivery approaches across Alpha Data Services implementations

Skills & Attributes
  • Strong project/program management skills with experience delivering complex, cross-functional programs or workstreams
  • Proven ability to manage dependencies across multiple teams in a structured delivery environment
  • Experience working across Product, Operations, Technology, and client teams simultaneously
  • Confident stakeholder manager with strong communication and influencing skills
  • Highly organized, disciplined, and outcomes-focused, with strong attention to detail
  • Proactive and accountable mindset, with the ability to anticipate issues and drive resolution
  • Collaborative and resilient, able to operate effectively in fast-paced, delivery-driven environments

Education & Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, technology, data, or a related discipline
  • 10+ years' experience delivering projects within asset management, financial services, data services, or technology-enabled environments
  • Experience working with structured delivery methodologies (Waterfall and/or Agile)
