Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Finance Data & Analytics Business Analyst to support a strategic Finance data integration and analytics initiative. This individual will serve as a key liaison between Finance business stakeholders and the Data & Analytics technical team, helping translate complex Finance processes, reporting requirements, business rules, and source-system data into well-defined, governed data products.

This role goes beyond traditional requirements gathering. The successful candidate will work closely with Finance SMEs, Data Architects, Data Engineers, and BI developers to understand how financial data is created and used across multiple source systems; define source-to-target mappings and business rules; support data validation and reconciliation; and ensure the resulting data products accurately represent Finance requirements.

The role requires a strong combination of Finance domain knowledge, data analysis, business analysis, and technical understanding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with Finance SMEs and the internal Business Analyst to discover, document, and prioritize business requirements for Finance data and analytics products.
  • Facilitate requirements and data-discovery sessions with Accounts Receivable, Credit, Finance Operations, and other Finance stakeholders.
  • Translate business requirements into clear functional requirements, data requirements, business rules, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications.
  • Analyze existing Finance reports, spreadsheets, dashboards, calculations, and manual processes to understand current-state logic and identify opportunities for standardization and automation.
  • Work with Finance SMEs to define and document key financial metrics, calculations, dimensions, hierarchies, and reporting definitions.
  • Develop and maintain source-to-target mappings, including source tables/columns, target data objects, transformation rules, data types, business definitions, and reconciliation requirements.
  • Partner with Data Architects and Data Engineers to define target data models and ensure technical implementations accurately represent Finance business requirements.
  • Perform data analysis and profiling across source systems to identify data-quality issues, inconsistencies, gaps, duplicate records, and mapping challenges.
  • Play a key role in financial data validation and reconciliation, working with Finance and Engineering teams to ensure data in the target platform reconciles with source systems and approved Finance reports.
  • Define data-quality rules and expected validation controls for critical Finance data elements.
  • Document data lineage and business definitions to improve traceability, governance, and auditability.
  • Support functional testing, system integration testing, and UAT by developing test scenarios, expected results, reconciliation criteria, and defect documentation.
  • Coordinate with Finance SMEs to obtain business validation and formal sign-off on data products, reports, dashboards, and KPIs.
  • Work with Power BI and Databricks AI/BI capabilities to help translate business requirements into dashboards, semantic models, self-service analytics, and other data products.
  • Use approved AI productivity tools, such as Microsoft Copilot, to accelerate requirements documentation, data mapping, test-case development, meeting summaries, and other project artifacts while maintaining appropriate review and governance.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Business Analysis, Data Analysis, or Finance Analytics experience, preferably supporting enterprise data integration, data warehouse, lakehouse, or BI initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Finance data, preferably Accounts Receivable, Credit, Collections, Customer Master, cash application, or related financial processes.
  • Strong experience translating Finance business requirements into data requirements and source-to-target mappings.
  • Experience analyzing data across multiple ERP or financial systems and reconciling information between source systems and reporting platforms.
  • Strong understanding of data concepts including dimensions, measures, hierarchies, business rules, data quality, lineage, and reconciliation.
  • Experience working with enterprise ERP platforms such as Oracle E-Business Suite Financials, SAP, or similar financial systems; Oracle EBS experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with reporting and analytics platforms such as Power BI, Databricks AI/BI Dashboards, Tableau, or similar tools.
  • Strong SQL skills with the ability to independently query and analyze data for requirements validation, profiling, reconciliation, and testing.
  • Experience supporting functional testing and UAT for data and analytics solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both Finance executives/SMEs and highly technical engineering teams.
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail, particularly when documenting financial calculations, mappings, business rules, and reconciliation logic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Accounts Receivable data, including aging, invoices, payments, credit limits, customer exposure, unapplied cash, collections, and related KPIs.
  • Experience with Oracle EBS AR and customer-related data structures.
  • Experience supporting cloud data platforms or lakehouse implementations, preferably Databricks.
  • Familiarity with medallion/layered data architectures and enterprise data modeling.
  • Experience establishing data dictionaries, business glossaries, mapping documents, and data-quality rules.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development/productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot.
  • Experience working in Agile data and analytics delivery environments.
