Job Duties:

  • Works with industry leaders to brainstorm analytic ideas, prioritize features, define scope, and iterate with continuous feedback from industry leaders and pilot teams
  • Leads and develops a growing team of highly motivated analytics and automation professionals
  • Manages analytics projects and workflows with increasing levels of complexity
  • Applies working knowledge of business concepts to analytical and visualization routines in Power BI, including data models, queries, DAX formulas, and report visuals
  • Develops and deploys data analytics techniques, tools, and templates to improve audit quality, as well as enhance engagement efficiency, and acceptance of emerging methods.
  • Ensures data analytics visualizations are easy to use, conform to internal standards, and provide value to engagement teams and clients
  • Collaborates with stakeholders from the Professional Practice, National IT, National Innovation and BDO Global teams as needed
  • Applies knowledge of financial data systems to ensure our data model is structured appropriately for repeatable, reusable analytics routines 
  • Furthers BDO's innovation efforts and personal development by devoting 15-20% of time to projects involving emerging technology, including but not limited to advanced analytics, research and development activities and other forward-looking projects and experiments
  • Monitors engagement team feedback and incorporates iterative improvements into existing audit data analytics routines
  • Develops and conducting training sessions for individual data analytics routines that are clear, engaging, and hands-on with examples
  • Supports proposal activity and defends current clients from competitor behavior by incorporating data analytics and innovation into go-to-market approaches
  • Other duties and projects as required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manages workflow and resourcing across project teams
  • Acts as a technical lead for the project teams and helps teams find solutions for the most complex technical challenges
  • Provides strategy and direction for analytics and automation projects
  • Invests in team members' professional development through training and process instruction
  • Provides clear and timely feedback to team members in a constructive manner


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance, required 

Experience:

  • Seven (7) or more years of accounting or finance experience, required
  • Prior supervisory experience, required
  • Prior project management experience, required
  • Data Analytics or other related experience, preferred
  • Demonstrated initiative in learning, adopting, and/or applying innovative approaches and technology, preferred
  • Certified Information Systems Analyst certification, preferred

License/Certifications: 

  • Certified Public Accountant license, required

Software:

  • Experience with data visualization tools, required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, required
  • Working knowledge of accounting and audit methods, required
  • Experience with Power BI, preferred 
  • Can read, interpret, and/or have some understanding of Power Query, M language and DAX, strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of SQL, preferred

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $135,000 - $200,000
Maryland Range:  $135,000 - $200,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range:  $135,000 - $200,000
