General Summary:The Director, Value Stream Data & Analytics is responsible for defining and leading the end-to-end analytics strategy for a value stream, ensuring data is used to drive prioritization, measure value, and inform decision-making at all levels. This role moves beyond delivering analysis to shaping how value is defined, tracked, and optimized across the value stream.
Working closely with Value Stream leadership, Product, Finance, and Enablement partners, the Director establishes KPI frameworks, governs data standards, and ensures consistent, enterprise-aligned measurement of performance and outcomes. The role plays a critical part in influencing roadmap decisions, evaluating investments, and ensuring delivery is grounded in measurable business value.
The Director also leads the development of data and analytics capabilities within the value stream-setting standards, guiding best practices, and building a high-performing analytics team-while staying closely connected to emerging tools and approaches that enhance insight generation and decision support.

Job Specifications

Bachelors Degree preferred, and/or equivalent experience

7+ years experience with demonstrated success at a comparable data analytics related field

Proficient in analytics programming languages (SQL/R/Python)

Demonstrated expertise with modern BI toolsets (Tableau, Alteryx, PowerBI, or equivalent)

Demonstrated understanding of data profiling, statistical analysis and data modeling concepts

Proficient in extracting and leveraging data out of data warehouse, transactional databases, object stores & API based environments

Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into technical solutions

Ability to embrace change, adapt to the unexpected, and focus energies, people, and solutions on practical and positive results

Demonstrated problem solving skills

Strong communications skills with the ability to influence others using data and logic

Ability to effectively mentor others

Aptitude and drive to learn new technologies and analysis techniques

Strong team player; able to work effectively within a team and more broadly with people from a variety of backgrounds and areas across the organization.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Own the value stream analytics strategy, defining how performance, outcomes, and value are measured across the full end-to-end value stream.

Establish and govern KPI frameworks, ensuring consistent, enterprise-aligned definitions of success, value realization, and performance tracking.

Influence value stream prioritization and investment decisions by providing insights, scenarios, and trade-offs that shape roadmap and MVP selection.

Lead value measurement and impact assessment, ensuring pilots, MVPs, and initiatives are evaluated consistently and tied to financial and operational outcomes.

Drive alignment across stakeholders, partnering with Value Stream leaders, Product, Finance, and Technology to ensure a shared understanding of metrics, assumptions, and results.

Set data and analytics standards and practices, including data quality expectations, reporting approaches, and tools to ensure consistency and scalability.

Build and develop analytics capability, providing leadership, coaching, and direction to analysts and managers while strengthening overall data maturity within the value stream.

Champion a data-driven culture, identifying opportunities to leverage data, advanced analytics, and emerging tools to improve decision-making and business outcomes.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$109,100.00-$224,000.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
