Job description

JOB SUMMARY 

The Data Analytics & Intelligence Manager is needed within the Georgia Power Customer Experience (CX) organization to lead our efforts around 'getting data out of the box' and leveraging it to support decisions and actions that drives value for partners and ultimately customers. This role will lead a team of data analytics professionals responsible for advanced analytics enablement, AI-augmented insight generation, customer intelligence, business performance measurement, and analytics-driven decision support to yield this value. Additionally, this leader will play an integral role in reshaping the analytics delivery workflow to capitalize on capabilities available from advancements in AI.

 JOB REQUIREMENTS:  

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Econometrics, Economics, Business Administration or related fields required.

  • Master's Degree or above in any of the above fields is highly preferred.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills  

  • 5+ years of experience in data management, advanced analytics, or a related field, with a proven track record of managing and implementing data and analytics solutions in an enterprise environment.

  • Technical Skills: Solid understanding of and hands-on experience with relevant data analytics programming languages and tools, such as Python, SQL, R, SAS, Power BI, etc.

  • Solid understanding of cloud technologies, such as Databricks, Azure, and GCP highly preferred.

  • Deep understanding of statistical and probabilistic methods.

  • Working knowledge of industry accepted predictive modeling techniques (e.g. Decision Trees, Neutral Networks, and Regression) preferred.

  • Solid knowledge of generative/agentic AI concepts (e.g., tokens, MCP, etc.) and of innovative modeling techniques (e.g. Deep Learning, Transformers, LLMs) preferred.

  • Proficiency in researching trends in data analytics and AI to assess opportunities for implementation. 

  • Familiarity with Agile project methodologies a plus.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently and with various stakeholders. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels, particularly executive leadership, and to translate highly complex information into practical terms for non-technical audiences.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in leading or taking significant roles within cross-functional teams.

  • Prior experience working in a utility highly preferred.

  • Prior experience working in Customer Service, Sales, Marketing, Customer Experience, or related functional areas a plus.

  • Working knowledge of Oracle customer information systems a plus.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:    

Leading the Data Analytics Team 

  • Designing and implementing data analytics team strategies that align with Southern Company's, Georgia Power's and CX's strategic goals, ensuring a clear roadmap for client success.  
  • Leading direct reports and providing strategic guidance on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensuring the use of voice-of-customer, operational, program enrollment, and demographic data in analyses and recommendations to yield higher customer satisfaction and deliver an elevated customer experience.

  • Proposing and developing data-driven approaches to quantifying the cost/benefit of various CX initiatives, providing clients and CX leadership with a comprehensive view of estimated ROI.

  • Working with the Data Science team to provide complete end-to-end analytics support to partner teams.

  • Challenging the team stays abreast of the latest trends, developments, and emerging capabilities within the data analytics and AI landscape.
  • Removing technical and non-technical roadblocks to ensure team and client success.
  • Managing budgets, timelines and resource allocation to ensure the successful management of analytics projects and initiatives. 

Enhancing the CX Data Analytics Experience in the Age of AI 

  • Setting the strategy for business unit-focused customer data analytics in the era of AI

  • Spearheading the establishment and deployment of AI-enhanced self-service analytics capabilities that enable business partners to independently access, interpret, and act upon complex operational, customer, and voice-of-customer data through intuitive dashboards, conversational analytics, and natural-language querying experiences.

  • Re-engineering the day-to-day workflow of the data analytics team by capitalizing on available AI-capabilities within native enterprise analytics platforms to increase analytic throughput, accelerate insight delivery, improve data storytelling, and enhance decision quality while maintaining appropriate governance and human oversight.

  • Fostering a culture of creativity and ingenuity to enable the innovative, safe, and responsible use of data, analytics, and available AI capabilities to generate meaningful value at Southern Company.

  • Presenting project progress updates and results to senior leadership and stakeholders, articulating value and gaining partner and client buy-in.  
  • Engaging with CX business units to understand intelligence and data-driven decision support needs.

  • Participating in or leading enterprise initiatives in the AI-enabled analytics space, in collaboration with system peers in CX, cross-functional partners, the Technology Organization (TO), and others.

  • Ensuring productive relationships with cross-functional leaders from other relevant parts of the business (i.e.,TO, Power Delivery Analytics, AFT Analytics, Marketing, Gas, etc.) to drive maximum customer and client value.
  • Working with system data governance teams to support AI enablement from a foundational perspective, where appropriate.
  • Partnering with external collaborators (i.e., vendors, research institutions, or startups) to leverage expertise, resources, and innovative solutions.

Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Presenting project progress updates and results to senior leadership and stakeholders, articulating value and gaining partner and client buy-in.  
  • Engaging with CX business units to understand intelligence and data-driven decision support needs.

  • Participating in or leading enterprise initiatives in the AI-enabled analytics space, in collaboration with system peers in CX, cross-functional partners, the Technology Organization (TO), and others.

  • Ensuring productive relationships with cross-functional leaders from other relevant parts of the business (i.e.,TO, Power Delivery Analytics, AFT Analytics, Marketing, Gas, etc.) to drive maximum customer and client value.
