Job description

Urschel, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking an Associate Buyer to join our Procurement team. This position serves as a key liaison between plant operations and the supply base. The Associate Buyer is primarily responsible for the procurement of capital equipment and related goods and services, including tooling, ancillary equipment, and coordination of delivery and installation activities. The role also supports broader purchasing activities as business needs require. This position is onsite at our corporate headquarters in Chesterton, Indiana.

Primary job duties include:

  • Manage the procurement of capital equipment and related purchases, including tooling, ancillary equipment, and associated services, ensuring timely delivery and support of project requirements.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to facilitate project execution, including delivery schedules, installation activities, issue resolution, and ongoing communication as needed.
  • Provide backup support for other Buyers and assigned commodity groups as needed.
  • Execute procure-to-pay activities, including purchase order processing, order acknowledgements, expediting, receipt reconciliation, returns, and invoice discrepancy resolution.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal customers and external suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective support of operational requirements.
