POSITION PURPOSE:

Collects subsets of data from Counseling and Student Services (CaSS), Office of Early Learning (OEL), and Student Due Process, analyzes the subsets, and configures with district wide student information data, producing resolutions to district level crisis' and demands. Compiles and responds to large data requests from the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) and internal WCPSS leadership (Board members, Superintendents, etc.) Analyzes data in order to solve the school system's Comprehensive Equitable Discipline Practices. Provides ongoing district wide discipline data to central office departments and school administrators using the Student Incident and Referral/Reporting System (SIRS).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Access; Google Apps;
  • Considerable knowledge of local and state policies regarding North Carolina Discipline Data Reporting Procedures;
  • Considerable knowledge of Electronic Access to Student Information (EASi-SIRS), Advanced Reporting, eSchools, and PowerSchool programming;
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and proofreading skills with the ability to track potential errors and verify accurate data contained in databases;
  • Ability to complete complex tasks and minimize errors with attention to detail;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback; excellent public speaking and presentation skills;
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks in the absence of clear direction;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students, parents, external agencies, and the community.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associates degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field;
  • Experience in research methodology and database management;
  • Broad technical knowledge of application development;
  • Other combination of applicable education, professional learning/training, and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform effectively in the position may be considered.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collects subsets of data from CaSS, OEL, and Student Due Process, analyzes the subsets, and configures with district wide student information data, produces resolutions to district level crisis' and demands.
  • Compiles and responds to large data requests from the OCR and internal WCPSS leadership (Board members, Superintendents, etc.)
  • Works with various departments to collect and decipher related data; produces different and/or new ways to present the combined data to highlight areas needing critical attention or showing positive results achieved by implemented solutions.
  • Provides technical support to schools with the collection, analysis and management of behavioral data.
  • Assembles and analyzes data that is provided to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) annually and disaggregates to provide system wide data to school-based leadership, Central Service Staff and the Board of Education.
  • Creates and distributes recurring reports that provide principals and Central Service staff with timely suspension and student behavior data and information.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    This position operates in a professional office and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, staff members of external agencies, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force.
