Job Title
Assistant Professor / Associate Professor, Economics
Essential Job Functions
โ€ข Teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in economics, including principles of microeconomics, principles of macroeconomics, intermediate theory, money and banking, and economic policy.
โ€ข Maintains a 12-credit hour teaching load per semester consistent with School of Business workload policy.
โ€ข Develops and refreshes course syllabi, assessments, and learning materials aligned with ACBSP standards and assurance of learning expectations.
โ€ข Advises undergraduate and graduate students on academic progress, career planning, and professional development.
โ€ข Pursues scholarly productivity through refereed publications, conference presentations, and external funding.
โ€ข Participates in department, school, university, and professional service, including committee work, faculty governance, and program review.
โ€ข Contributes to curriculum development, learning outcomes assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
โ€ข Supports School of Business strategic priorities, including STEM MBA growth, industry partnerships, and student recruitment and retention.
โ€ข Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
โ€ข Earned doctorate in Economics or a closely related field from an accreditedinstitution. ABD candidates near completion may be considered at the
Assistant Professor rank.
Minimum Experience
โ€ข College level teaching experience, or clear potential to teach effectively.
โ€ข A record of, or promise for, peer reviewed scholarship appropriate to the rank sought.
โ€ข Preferred: teaching experience in an ACBSP or AACSB accredited business program.
โ€ข Preferred: expertise in applied economics, econometrics, or data analytics that complements existing offerings.
Licenses/Certifications None required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
โ€ข Knowledge of micro and macroeconomic theory and applied economics.
โ€ข Knowledge of quantitative methods such as econometrics and data analytics.
โ€ข Knowledge of ACBSP and AACSB expectations for faculty qualifications and assessment.
โ€ข Skill in effective classroom, online, and hybrid instruction for a diverse student body.
โ€ข Skill in scholarly writing, research design, and dissemination through peer reviewed outlets.
โ€ข Experience with online learning, including online course development and strategies for student engagement in virtual environments.
โ€ข Ability to advise and mentor students and support their academic and professional development.
โ€ข Ability to collaborate across disciplines and contribute to graduate programs.
