Job description

Primary Purpose

Responsible for fulfilling demand, driving customer value, improving responsiveness, facilitating financial success and building a strong network. Will develop and establish best practices for inventory management, optimize cycle count, develop or maintain inventory prioritization and reduce inventory cost at the enterprise level.  Inventory warehousing processes include over $500M in annual spend and on-hand inventory values of $40M. This role focuses on building and using data analytics to improve inventory processes, supply chain progress, implement technology, minimize costs, procedural efficiency and personnel issues to leadership and upper management.  Subject matter expert (SME) in procurement and financial systems responsible for setting up and troubleshooting processes associated with Inventory and procurement transactions. This role is based onsite in either Delaware or North Carolina.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Identify and carry out inventory management strategies. Lead inventory control teams at Plants and assess and manage inventory costs. Participate in supplier relationship and performance monitoring. Satisfy the requirements of internal stakeholders.  Oversee the Data Analyst responsible for providing observations and reporting based on data modeling.  Participate in the training of new inventory employees.
  2. Develop trusting relationships with the operations/business. Establish a working relationship with the business units to streamline and optimize inventory management activities. Report on inventory levels, supply chain progress, procedural efficiency and personnel issues to upper management.
  3. Develop prioritization for stocking/ordering inventory across all Plants and investigate and deploy strategies to optimize on-hand inventory (i.e., sharing slow inventory at sister Plants, lead inventory planning and forecasting.).  Reduce carrying costs of inventory while maintaining optimal levels to critical operations and mitigate supply chain risk.
  4. Subject matter expert (SME) in procurement and financial systems. Responsible for setting up and troubleshooting processes associated with inventory and procurement transactions.
  5. Promote safety policies and standards for the department and projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in business, engineering or supply chain or equivalent inventory management experience with a history of successfully implementing and executing inventory management systems and managing personnel.
  • 5 - 7 years in supply chain operations or logistics and distribution experience.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel Skills required. Experience with common analytic and visualization tools like SQL, Python, Tableau, Power BI, and/or Qlik is preferred. 
  • Inventory management, negotiations and financial software experience.
  • Associate for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) certification or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) certification a plus.
  • Will require overnight, multi-day travel to visit suppliers and company locations in NC.
