We foster an organizational culture that supports equitable access to mentorship, professional development, and leadership opportunities. Our partnerships, standards, and research reflect our belief that ensuring broad participation in scientific leadership results in stronger, more impactful outcomes for global health.

Brief Job Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and talented Data Analyst to join our dynamic team. You will turn complex data from our Medicine Supply Map into actionable insights that drive decision-making, operational improvements, and ensure the availability of quality medicines.

How will YOU create impact here at USP?

As part of our mission to advance scientific rigor and public health standards, you will play a vital role in increasing global access to high-quality medicines through public standards and related programs. USP prioritizes scientific integrity, regulatory excellence, and evidence-based decision-making to ensure health systems worldwide can rely on strong, tested, and globally relevant quality standards.

Additionally, USP’s People and Culture division, in partnership with the Equity Office, invests in leadership and workforce development to equip all employees with the skills to create high-performing, inclusive teams. This includes training in equitable management practices and tools to promote engaged, collaborative, and results-driven work environments.

The Data Analyst has the following responsibilities:

Gather, clean, preprocess, and maintain datasets from the Medicine Supply Map and related sources.

  • Conduct statistical analysis and hypothesis testing to uncover trends, patterns, and anomalies.

  • Design, plan, and execute data quality and testing activities: validate datasets, uncover data issues, check pipeline integrity, and implement consistency checks.

  • Participate in data-driven testing (e.g., scripted or parameterized tests) to ensure accuracy of metrics and model outputs.

  • Develop clear dashboards, visualizations, and reports using tools like Python (Pandas, Matplotlib), R, SQL, Tableau, SAS.

  • Monitor data pipelines, verify data flow correctness, and troubleshoot discrepancies.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define reporting needs and deliver actionable insights.

  • Perform root cause and diagnostic analytics to understand supply disruptions or demand shifts.

  • Share insights through presentations, written reports, and visual storytelling.

  • Document testing procedures, data validation steps, and analytical methodology.

  • Stay current on emerging analytics, testing tools, and best practices in healthcare/pharmaceutical data.

Who is USP Looking For?

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Public Health, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in data cleaning, transformation, and analysis using Python (Pandas), R, SQL, Tableau, SAS, or similar tools.

  • Strong statistical foundation: hypothesis testing, trend analysis, descriptive and diagnostic statistics.

  • Experience building dashboards or visualizations to communicate data insights clearly.

  • Excellent analytical thinking and attention to detail; ability to translate business questions into data queries.

  • Strong communication skills—able to present complex findings to non-technical audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage multiple data requests.

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, healthcare or pharmaceutical-oriented environment.

  • Experience working in healthcare, pharmaceutical supply chains, or life sciences domains.

  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as IBM Cognos or Power BI.

  • Experience with ETL/pipeline frameworks (e.g. Kedro, Airflow) for reproducible workflows.

  • Previous project experience using Python/R/SQL in predictive modeling, dashboarding, data mining, or statistical analysis.

  • Prior roles involving data storytelling or decision support in healthcare settings

  • 10 years of technical professional working experience.

Additional Desired Preferences
  • PhD or similar level of research experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities

None, this is an individual contributor role.

Benefits:

USP provides the benefits to protect yourself and your family today and tomorrow. From company-paid time off and comprehensive healthcare options to retirement savings, you can have peace of mind that your personal and financial well-being is protected.

Compensation:

Base Salary Range: USD $83,368– $118,800 annually.

Target Annual Bonus: 10%
