General Description
Under general supervision, performs clerical work relating to area of assigned responsibility.
Examples of Duties (Essential Functions)
Perform any combination of the following duties according to specific assigned area of responsibility.
Receive, classify, sort and process documents according to departmental policies and procedures.
Assist customers at the counter or on the telephone.
Arrange documents by case number order, file papers into court files; expand cases to multiple volumes if required.
Prepare and copy documents for attorneys, general public and deputy clerks.
Receive requests for files and documents; pull files for court calendars for the judiciary, attorneys, and the general public as well as deputy clerks.
Assist with reviewing files for their retention or destruction and verifying files with the case dockets.
Maintain accurate file checkout records. Remove files from shelves and process check out prior to release of the files from the department.
Order files from the Records Center; label storage boxes according to procedure; relocate closed files to the Records Center for storage.
Pull files for court calendars.
Search microfilm files to obtain records.
Work in the Legal Resource Center.
Data Entry when verifying files and establishing tracking records.
Perform clerical duties including filing, sorting and processing of forms, correspondence, financial records, or other miscellaneous material as necessary.
Incumbent may rotate through divisions to gain broad experience of the Office.
Typical Qualifications and Minimum Qualifications
Reading Comprehension - Must be able to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
Active Learning - Must be able to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem solving and decision-making.
Active Listening - Must have the ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate time.
For intern status must be enrolled in an accredited college, and applied through the college's intern program. Supplemental courses in clerical record keeping and office procedures helpful. Area of assigned responsibility will determine if prior experience is necessary.
Position does not supervise, but may train teammates.

Accuracy in data input is required. Must have the ability to work independently when assigned duties require.
May process or handle confidential files and/or data.
Requires close concentration for extended periods of time; must have the ability to concentrate on repetitious tasks for long periods of time. May sit for extended periods of time.
