We're looking for a Junior Data Analyst to support the creation of interactive, user-friendly data reports that make information accessible to students, families, and staff. This is an entry-level, remote role with a flexible schedule, comprehensive healthcare benefits, and mentorship support for your career growth.
What You'll Do
With guidance and support, you will:
  • Build reports and visualizations that make education data accessible for students, families, and staff
  • Develop and maintain data ingestion, cleaning, and transformation processes
  • Write and troubleshoot SQL queries to prepare datasets for analysis
  • Identify patterns and errors in large datasets and help design solutions
  • Collaborate with team members to translate real-world school needs into technical solutions
  • Help onboard new districts and schools by configuring the application to fit their data, users, and reporting needs
  • Document new and existing processes

Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Experience writing SQL queries by hand (no visual query builder), including joins, aggregations, filtering, and grouping across multiple tables (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle)
  • Ability to translate real-world business rules into SQL queries and data visualizations
  • Ability to read and reason about existing SQL queries and adapt them to new requirements
  • Ability to analyze large datasets to identify issues or trends
  • Attention to detail, with a focus on data accuracy
  • Comfortable collaborating to define and solve problems based on user needs
  • Basic ability to identify the root cause of data issues and suggest improvements
  • Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git)
  • Strong written communication skills, including documentation
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own time in a remote environment
  • Genuine interest in education and the mission of improving outcomes for K-12 students

Preferred Qualifications
  • Coursework or projects in data analysis, statistics, or a related field
  • Familiarity with relational data modeling concepts (tables, keys, relationships)
  • Knowledge of scripting languages like PHP, Python, or Node
  • Exposure to ETL / data pipeline concepts
  • Familiarity with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
