Overview

Exagen is a patient-focused and discovery-driven life sciences company dedicated to transforming the care continuum for patients suffering from debilitating and chronic autoimmune diseases.ย  Our goal is to enable rheumatologists to improve care for patients through the differential diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring of complex autoimmune and autoimmune-related diseases, including lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.ย  By leveraging our proprietary Cell-Bound Complement Activation Products, or CB-CAPs, technology, we help get to the real cause of a patient's symptoms and guide their journey to improved health.

About the Opportunity:

The Senior Business Analyst & Power BI Developer will play a critical role in transforming complex data into actionable insights through executive-level dashboards and analytics.

Location note: This is an a hybrid role that requires on-site work out of our Carlsbad office and candidates must live within commuting distance.

Responsibilities

Note: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Rapidly learn and understand internal business processes to identify opportunities for data-driven improvements.
  • Design, develop, and publish Power BI dashboards tailored for executive audiences, ensuring clarity, relevance, and impact.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Finance, and Operations teams to gather requirements and deliver analytics solutions.
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
  • Perform data modeling, DAX calculations, and ETL processes to support robust reporting.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to support decision-making.
  • Maintain and optimize existing Power BI reports and datasets for performance and usability.
  • Act as a liaison between business units and IT, ensuring seamless communication and execution.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Business Analysis and Power BI development within the Life Sciences, Health Care, or Medical Device sectors.
  • Proven ability to work independently and drive projects from concept to completion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing executive-level dashboards and visualizations.
  • Functional knowledge of Sales or Finance processes is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.
  • Experience with SQL, Excel, and other data tools is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $140,000
