About the role
Canadian Blood Services is seeking a Regular Full-Time Associate Director, Data and Analytics, Centre of Excellence to join our Enterprise Data Management, Insights & AI team within the Digital Solutions and Technology division.

Our Digital Solutions and Technology division implements advanced systems and applications to gather and use data more effectively, creating better experiences for stakeholders, improving quality and productivity across operations and delivering superior products and services to Canadians. Our mission is to drive business value through exemplary leadership and innovation while building and safeguarding reliable digital solutions.

Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Data Management, Insights & AI, you will lead a multidisciplinary Data & Analytics Centre of Excellence team focused on data, analytics, modelling, and visualization to support strategic decision-making across the organization. You will oversee the development and delivery of enterprise analytics and reporting solutions, ensuring high-quality insights and data products are delivered to internal teams and external partners.

You will drive the execution of the enterprise data and analytics strategy in collaboration with business units, advancing innovation, performance measurement, and evidence-based decision-making across the organization. You will also translate complex analysis into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership, including the Executive Management Team. In addition, you will oversee corporate data governance initiatives, support the development of business cases for new analytics projects, and strengthen organizational analytics capability through data literacy programs, stakeholder engagement, and the promotion of consistent tools, methods, and standards.

  • Oversee the onboarding and integration of new data sources to enhance enterprise analytics capabilities.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of analytics professionals focused on innovation, collaboration, and continuous growth.
  • Partner with business areas to understand data and analytics requirements and deliver actionable insights that support quality improvement, operational effectiveness, planning, and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee budget and financial planning for the function, including forecasting, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring resources are aligned with organizational priorities and value delivery.


Desired education and skills

  • Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a University Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Engineering, or equivalent. 
  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in data analytics or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex programs from strategy through design, execution, and operational maturity.
  • Strong bias for action, with the ability to advance initiatives in ambiguous or evolving environments.
  • Proven ability to think strategically while executing tactically, balancing long-term vision with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse internal audiences and senior leaders.
  • Proven ability to independently lead initiatives, set priorities, and deliver high-quality results within tight deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of health-related data and databases, with expertise in statistical and analytical tools, business intelligence platforms, and data visualization and reporting techniques.
