Job description

Job Summary:  Responsible for all aspects of administration, operations and coaching of the dance team at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School that is aligned with the overall mission of the school. 

Job Start and End Date: approximately August 10, 2026 - March, 2027

Salary Range: Stipend provided

Application Closing Date: This posting will remain active until the positions are filled.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs and conducts recruitment/outreach programs to attract new dance team members.
  • Selects, organizes, and publishes a schedule of performances. This involves responding to or soliciting invitations to athletic performances, school performances, and completion of appropriate documentation.
  • Provides individual and group instruction as necessary in preparation for performances (and possible competitions in the future).
  • Establishes performance requirements, enforces academic requirements, and verifies each student's eligibility to participate in dance activities with the appropriate school administrator.
  • Organizes and implements dance performances and participation in accordance with school policy and regulations as well as student interest and ability.
  • Complies with federal and state laws and DSHA policies regarding participation in co-curricular activities.
  • Maintains the integrity and reputation of Divine Savior Holy Angels High School in the dance community by teaching and modeling integrity, commitment, and diligence.
  • Submits to the director of student activities a year-end report including the following:
    • List of participants
    • Summary of activities
    • Recommendations for improvements.
  • Ensures the safety of students by adhering to both team and general school rules and regulations while on the school premises and while traveling.
  • Controls the storage and use of school-owned equipment and materials; makes minor adjustments, and requests repairs to equipment as required.  Maintains an accurate inventory of school-owned equipment and materials.
  • Submits budget needs annually to the principal in accordance with established timelines and guidelines. This involves allocation/spending decisions, documentation/justification of spending, accounting documentation, and planning/requesting year-to-year fiscal needs.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversees coaches, volunteers, and students involved in the dance team.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

Candidate should have dance team participation and coaching experience and demonstrate expertise in knowledge and teaching/coaching dance. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence consistent with the duties of this position
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret information.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions, inquiries and/or complaints.
  • Displays courtesy, tact, and respect when dealing with others.

Physical Demands: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls.  The employee is frequently required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Protective Clothing Required: None.

Work Environment: The work takes place in primarily an office/school environment and at dance performances and tournaments off campus.
