Seasonal Camp Lead for The Dalworth Recreation Center - Summer 2026

Essential Job Functions
  • Must be mature, enthusiastic, imaginative, energetic, creative, have strong leadership skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively in a TEAM environment.

  • Ability to motivate and maintain a positive atmosphere, and if necessary, use positive disciplinary techniques.
  • Working knowledge of company safety protocols and ability to administer minor medical care.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to last minute changes.
  • Physical stamina and ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to withstand working outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift, pull, push or drag up to 60 pounds of equipment, i.e. ice chest, supply boxes, inventory.
  • Commit to the seasonal schedule.
  • Must be able to attend camp counselor orientation and training prior to the first day of camp.
  • Provides high-quality programming and recreational opportunities and enjoyable experiences for camp participants ages 6-15.
  • Supervises campers and ensures their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being.
  • Organizes and leads various small and large group activities.
  • Ensures cleanliness of the site, sweeping, mopping, throwing away trash, cleaning up after activities.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports and daily attendance.
  • Mediates any campers' disputes.
  • Knows, enforces, and follows all safety guidelines associated with the camp program, always including the whereabouts of your campers.
  • Providing positive and enthusiastic customer service to all Members and guests.
  • Maintains constant surveillance of the pool area and be confident in the water.
  • Ability to use sound judgement in handling disciple issue with campers, and to make quick decisions to ensure safety of all.
  • Accompany groups on field trips.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Requires a High School diploma or GED and one year of recreation experience. An Associates degree or two years of college with major course work in leisure services, park administration or a related field preferred.
  • License: A valid Texas Class C drivers license required.
  • Experience: Working and supervising children in a recreation or camp environments preferred and cash handling a plus.
    • Current lnfant/Child/Adult CPR and First Aid with AED certification or ability to attend training upon employment offer.
    • Experience in managing camp, youth programs, recreation, or staff preferred but not required.

For city employees who are regular part time (10-19 hours per week) or seasonal hired placed on City payroll, the following benefits are provided:
  • - Public Agency Retirement System: the employee contributes 6.2% each paycheck to this retirement system and the city provides 1.3%. The employee does not pay into Social Security. All of the employees contributions may be withdrawn upon separating service from the city. The City's contributions will not be paid unless the employee retires under the system.
  • Part time or seasonal employees are not eligible for any paid leave or other benefits.
  • Part time or seasonal employees are limited to working only 1,000 hours per 12-month period, unless the seasonal is project based for a specific period of time which is typically less than 12-months.
