We are seeking a Medical Support Assistant to support the Veteran community in the Glendale, Colorado area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals.

Position Highlights:

  • Logistics:
    • Contract Type: 1 base year with 2, 1-year option periods
    • Schedule: Monday Friday 8:00 am 4:30 pm (MST)
    • Location: 4100 E Mississippi Ave, Glendale, Colorado 80246
  • Requirements:
    • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
    • Minimum 6 months of customer service experience.
    • Proficient with computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Have a High School education or GED equivalent.
    • Oral and written proficiency with English.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Type at least 50 WPM.
    • Basic medical terminology knowledge.
    • Previous experience with the VA is a plus.
    • Knowledge in use of VA software such as CPRS, VISTA, CTM, ISS system, HSRM, PPMS, and others is a plus.

What does a typical day look like for the Medical Support Assistant?

You will:

  • Monday Friday 8:00 am 4:30 pm (MST).
  • Respond to internal and external customer requests for assistance in a courteous, professional, cooperative, and helpful manner.
  • Answer the phone and follow appropriate telephone etiquette. Listen attentively to questions and confirm understanding by restating to the caller. Collect adequate information before transferring a call to nurse, provider, social work, etc.
  • Check-in of all patients via Integrated Scheduling Solution (ISS).
  • Serve as Patient Relations Representative and actively listen to feedback, patient concerns, and can self-resolve patient complaints/co-worker concerns in a tactful, professional manner.
  • Manage and complete assigned work, provide input on work progress and/or impediments, work collaboratively, and maintain efficient workflow.
  • Update patient demographics, to include phone number, address, next of kin, emergency contact, and insurance capture.
  • Assist in opening and closing clinics daily, updating no-shows within 24 hours of appointment. Monitor incoming and outgoing faxes and mail, in accordance with HIPPA standards.
