Job description

Lulu Dae's – Kitchen Prep

Location: Strawberry Village, Marin County, CA Employment Type: Full-Time (Hourly + Tips) Pay: $20–$23/hr

About the Role

We're looking for a true kitchen workhorse — someone who's already got the rhythm of a high-volume kitchen in their hands and is ready to own prep at Lulu Dae's. This is a hands-on, all-day-on-your-feet role: breaking down cases of fruit, batching bases, portioning toppings, prepping grains, and keeping every station stocked so the line never slows down. You won't be managing anyone — you'll be the engine that makes sure everyone else can move fast.

What You'd Actually Be Doing

Daily Kitchen Prep

  • Washing, cutting, and portioning fresh fruit, vegetables, and produce for açai bowls, smoothies, and juices, and making sure the line never runs dry
  • Keeping the prep area clean, organized, and running efficiently throughout the day
  • Batching açai and smoothie bases to spec, ensuring consistent texture, color, and thickness
  • Portioning toppings, sauces, and mix-ins into service-ready containers
  • Cooking and portioning grains (rice, quinoa, etc.) for grain bowls and musubi
  • Rolling and assembling musubi components ahead of service
  • Juicing and batching fresh juices, straining and bottling to spec
  • Building and executing daily/weekly prep lists based on projected volume, in coordination with management

Recipe & Quality Control

  • Following standardized recipes and portioning guides precisely, every time — consistency is non-negotiable
  • Flagging recipe or ingredient issues (texture, ripeness, yield) to management before they hit the line
  • Tasting and quality-checking batches as you go
  • Properly storing ingredients, rotating stock, and flagging anything that's off

Kitchen & Equipment Maintenance

  • Keeping all prep surfaces, cutting boards, and tools cleaned and sanitized throughout the shift
  • Breaking down, cleaning, and reassembling blenders, juicers, and the soft-serve machine per protocol
  • Maintaining walk-in and dry storage organization — proper labeling, dating, and FIFO rotation
  • Deep-cleaning prep areas and equipment at the end of each shift per closing checklist

Team Support

  • Jumping onto the line to build bowls, smoothies, or soft serve whenever it's slammed
  • Communicating clearly and quickly with front-of-house and management about shortages, timing, or issues

What We're Looking For

  • At least a year of supervisory experience, ideally in food service
  • Real kitchen prep experience — you know your way around a cutting board and a walk-in
  • Someone who leads by example and earns respect naturally
  • Calm under pressure — you're the person others look to when it gets hectic
  • Sharp organizational skills and solid attention to detail
  • Clear communicator, written and verbal
  • Physically up for it — on your feet all shift, lifting up to 25 lbs, moving constantly
  • Genuinely bought into doing things the right way

What's in it for you:

  • Competitive hourly pay + tips ($20-23/hr)
  • Shift Meals and other discounts
  • Paid sick leave
  • Real room to grow as Lulu Dae's grows

We're a new spot with a lot of intention behind it — the food, the culture, the community. If you want to be part of building something from the ground up and you're ready to lead, we'd love to hear from you.

Not sure you check every box? Apply anyway. We're building a team that reflects this community, and we know the right person when we meet them.
