Job description

Description

The Air Import Specialist is responsible for coordinating all aspects of air import shipments.

  • Prepares issues and submits documentation to ensure proper exportation of cargo.
  • Ensures that service commitments are achieved and maintained in accordance with client and company objectives.
  • Provides clients with information and guidance concerning terms of delivery & payment, insurance, services or other matters affecting the their needs.
  • Arranges for consolidation and/or deconsolidation of containers.
  • Ensures that invoicing of rendered services is completed accurately and in a timeframe consistent with company policy.
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in Air Import preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with contract interpretation.
  • Ability to negotiate rates with airlines and truckers
  • Hazardous Materials experience a plus.
  • Desire and ability to provide excellent customer service required, while maximizing profit.
  • Professional demeanor, including excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Stellar organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work within a team environment where keeping open communication among your colleagues is vital.
  • Proficiency in Windows programs, specifically Word and Excel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ Work Environment:

  • No heavy lifting is expected; although exertion of up to 20 pounds of force may be required on occasion.
  • Manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment, such as computers, copiers, fax machines, etc.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time is common.
  • Hearing and vision within average range to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.
  • This position is performed in a traditional office setting.
