Job description

Purpose of the Position: We are seeking a detail-oriented D365 F&O Functional Analyst to join our Information Systems team. This is a functional, business-facing role centered on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations: gathering and analyzing business requirements, configuring and testing the system, writing Functional Design Documents for development staff, supporting end users across order-to-cash and procure-to-pay processes, and delivering reporting and dashboards in Power BI. You will partner with supply chain, sales, and finance teams as well as our development staff to improve business processes, keep the ERP running smoothly, and give the business clear visibility into its data. The role also provides support for our EDI transaction flows.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

D365 Functional Support

  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements and translate them into D365 F&O configurations and Functional Design Documents (FDDs) for development staff.
  • Configure D365 F&O modules and parameters to support business processes, including sales, procurement, inventory, and warehouse operations.
  • Support end users in order-to-cash and procure-to-pay processes, including order entry, shipping, invoicing, purchasing, and related master data.
  • Configure and test system changes, coordinate user acceptance testing, and support deployments to Production.
  • Support D365 F&O version updates, including regression testing and evaluating new features for business value.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve functional and transactional issues, working with development staff when technical changes are required.
  • Train end users and create process documentation, job aids, and support procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline business processes and make better use of standard D365 functionality.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for order status, inventory, transaction health, and other business metrics.
  • Reconcile data between D365 and other systems, and flag discrepancies for resolution.
  • Replace manual, Excel-based reporting with standardized, refreshable Power BI reporting.
  • Work with business stakeholders to define KPIs and ensure reporting reflects accurate, trusted data.

EDI Support

  • Monitor EDI transaction flows and help resolve failed or rejected documents, coordinating with customers, vendors, and EDI providers as needed.
  • Support trading partner onboarding and testing, and define mapping requirements for development staff to implement.

Quality & Delivery

  • Develop and execute test plans, and validate solutions in both UAT and Production environments.
  • Document configurations, processes, and support procedures for future reference.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, security requirements, and best practices.

Environment & Support

  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues to ensure reliability of ERP and related business processes.
  • Participate in rotating Helpdesk schedule, assisting users with computer and system issues.
  • Perform occasional off-hours support tasks (e.g., partner testing windows, month-end support).

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Hands-on functional experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O (or AX) - configuration, testing, and end-user support, particularly in supply chain or finance modules.
  • Experience building reports and dashboards in Power BI, including data modeling and DAX or Power Query.
  • Working knowledge of order-to-cash and/or procure-to-pay business processes.
  • Ability to gather business requirements and translate them into functional specifications and system configurations.
  • Experience writing Functional Design Documents (FDDs) or similar functional specifications for hand-off to development teams.
  • Experience testing and validating solutions across UAT and Production environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and data-reconciliation skills, with attention to data accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Personable and collaborative, with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a relaxed, team-oriented environment. Skilled at identifying root causes of issues and implementing practical, effective solutions.

Preferred Skills:

  • Microsoft Dynamics F&O SCM as user or support.
  • Experience with EDI transaction sets, trading partner management, or VAN/managed EDI service providers.
  • Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PPT, Teams, Outlook), including advanced Excel skills.
  • X++ and SQL development skills - able to read, write, and debug code for D365 F&O when needed, while remaining primarily focused on functional work.
  • Experience with SQL or Power Query for data analysis and validation.
  • Familiarity with SFTP and file-based data exchange.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint for document management and team collaboration.
  • Experience working in a multi-system supply chain, inventory, or allocation environment.
