Job description

Capture Manager, Principal – Defense and Intel

Overview: Reports directly to the Senior Director Capture Management for the Defense and Intel (D&I) Operating Group. Leads $50 - $500M capture efforts with a primary focus on D&I Operating Group opportunities and a secondary focus in other Operating Groups.

Requirements: The Capture Manager leads the development and execution of winning strategies for mid- to large complex U.S. Government contract opportunities. This role involves managing all aspects of the capture process including working closely with business development, proposal operations, technical subject matter experts, estimating, price to win, and pricing teams to create cohesive and competitive capture strategies. Report to senior leadership on capture status, risks, and opportunities. Continuously implement capture processes and tools, leveraging best practices (e.g., Shipley).

Develop and execute comprehensive capture strategies aligned with company goals and customer mission needs. Manage capture budgets, resources, and timelines effectively to achieve milestones. Build and maintain strong relationships with government customers, industry partners, and stakeholders to gather intelligence and strengthen positioning. Perform competitive analysis and market research to assess opportunities and refine win strategies. Develop Gate Review and Readiness Review presentations and provide regular updates to senior leadership on capture progress. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, policies, procedures during the capture process.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record in leading successful capture efforts and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  •  Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Required Experience:

  • 8 – 10 years proven success managing capture efforts (+$100M) with experience leading a multi-functional team.
  • Proven success in winning mid- to large-scale U.S. Government contracts.
  • Previous experience capturing defense and intel opportunities (e.g., DOD, DHS) required.
  • Deep knowledge of federal acquisition regulations (FAR) and the procurement lifecycle.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

Technical Skills:

  • Deep understanding of the Shipley process and other capture methodologies.
  • Proficiency in CRM and capture management tools (e.g., Deltek).
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities to evaluate market trends, conduct gap analysis, and guide pursuit strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a cross-matrix team comprised of business development, proposals, pricing, estimating, and other shared services (i.e., Human Resources).
  • High-level presentation skills with ability to communicate complex strategies to both executive leadership and clients.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel as needed for client engagement and pursuit activities.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in similar role within the defense or aerospace industry. Knowledge of specific US Government procurement cycles, policies, and contracting vehicles.
