Job description

CYTOTECHNOLOGIST | PART-TIME OPPORTUNITYJOB OVERVIEW

Seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Cytotechnologist to join a dynamic laboratory team. The Cytotechnologist will be responsible for examining and interpreting cytology specimens, supporting diagnostic accuracy, maintaining quality standards, and collaborating with pathologists and healthcare professionals to ensure excellent patient care.

This is a part-time opportunity offering competitive compensation and a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.


POSITION DETAILS

COMPENSATION
  • Salary Range: $71,094 - $106,641 annually (prorated based on part-time schedule)

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences, Medical Technology, or a related field
  • Cytologist Certification (ASCP or equivalent) required
  • 1-3 years of cytology or related clinical laboratory experience
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory quality assurance and regulatory compliance
  • Experience with laboratory information systems and electronic documentation
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and data integrity

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Examine and interpret gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens in accordance with established laboratory procedures
  • Issue final diagnoses for negative gynecologic cytology cases and submit non-gynecologic cases for pathologist review
  • Verify specimen acceptability and patient identification throughout all stages of processing
  • Maintain quality control, proficiency testing, and regulatory compliance documentation
  • Assist with Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) procedures, including slide preparation and staining
  • Accurately enter test requests and results into laboratory information systems
  • Ensure compliance with all laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities
  • Collaborate effectively with pathologists, nurses, physicians, and laboratory staff
  • Contribute to a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working in a clinical laboratory or hospital environment
  • Knowledge of Cerner or similar laboratory information systems
