Job description


The Senior Advanced Test Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of test systems and methodologies for pressure sensing products. This role supports new product introduction (NPI), sustaining engineering, and advanced technology development, ensuring product performance, quality, and reliability through robust test solutions.
You will report directly to our Director of Engineering and you'll work out of our Columbus, OH location.
In this role, you will impact the success of our product development lifecycle by ensuring robust testing strategies are implemented, thereby enhancing product performance and customer satisfaction. Your contributions will be vital in advancing Honeywell's reputation for quality and innovation in the industry.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Test Development & Automation
  • Design and develop automated test systems for pressure sensors and related MEMS-based products
  • Create hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and functional test setups for characterization and production support
  • Develop and maintain test software (LabVIEW, Python, C/C++ or similar) for data acquisition and control
  • Define test strategies across validation, characterization, and production phases

Product Validation & Characterization
  • Lead sensor characterization efforts, including:
    • Pressure accuracy, hysteresis, and repeatability
    • Thermal performance across wide temperature ranges
    • Long-term drift and stability
  • Analyze data to derive calibration algorithms and compensation models

Reliability & Environmental Testing
  • Plan and execute environmental and reliability testing, such as:
    • Temperature cycling
    • Pressure cycling
    • Humidity and vibration
  • Support qualification testing (HALT/HASS, DFMEA validation)

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with:
    • Design Engineering (mechanical, electrical, MEMS)
    • Manufacturing & Operations
    • Quality & Supplier teams
  • Support design for test (DFT) and design for manufacturability (DFM) initiatives

Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Perform statistical data analysis (SPC, GR&R, DOE)
  • Generate detailed reports for design reviews, qualification, and customer deliverables
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for test failures

Production Support
  • Transition test systems from development to manufacturing environments
  • Support yield improvement, test time reduction, and cost optimization
  • Troubleshoot production test issues and improve system robustness

Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in test engineering or sensor development
  • Hands-on experience with pressure sensors, MEMS, or analog measurement systems

WE VALUE
  • Master's degree in engineering or related discipline
  • Experience in pressure sensing technologies (piezoresistive, capacitive, etc.)
  • Strong background in:
    • Data acquisition systems
    • Signal conditioning and instrumentation
  • Proficiency in tools such as:
    • LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, or C/C++
  • Familiarity with calibration techniques and sensor compensation algorithms
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma / Lean methodologies (Green Belt or higher preferred)
