Job description

The AI Program Manager serves as the primary owner and orchestrator of Noble's enterprise AI portfolio within the Information Technology organization. Reporting directly to the VP/CIO, this role bridges business strategy, technology delivery, and governance to ensure that AI investments generate measurable value while managing risk. The AI Program Manager drives adoption of AI across Noble's global operations, spanning offshore drilling, HSE, finance, engineering, and corporate functions and acts as the principal intake and triage point for all AI-related demand, reducing the burden on core IT engineering resources.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

  • AI Strategy & Roadmap: Develop and maintain an AI strategy aligned with Noble's corporate objectives. Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Finance, and HSE stakeholders to support and prioritize high-value AI use cases as aligned with the PMO for Technology Digital Transformation.

  • Portfolio Governance: Maintain a centralized inventory of all AI projects, tools, and vendors. Manage the intake, evaluation, and approval process to eliminate shadow AI and prevent redundant vendor spend.

  • Project Execution: Lead or co-lead delivery of approved AI initiatives from proof-of-concept through production deployment, managing timelines, budgets, and cross-functional teams in partnership with the IT PMO and Digital Transformation PMO.

  • Vendor & Partner Management: Own relationships with AI technology vendors; coordinate with existing IT contracts and Category Management; evaluate emerging technologies relevant to the offshore drilling sector. Collaborate with EA, Data & Analytics, IT Ops, and Security teams.

  • Data Governance & Security: Partner with Data, Cybersecurity, and Legal teams to ensure AI initiatives meet Noble's data classification, privacy, and regulatory requirements.

  • Change Management & Training: Drive AI literacy and adoption across the organization. Develop change management plans for new AI tools and workflows in alignment with the Company Initiatives.

  • Performance Measurement: Define and report KPIs for AI initiatives, demonstrating business value and informing prioritization decisions for the AI portfolio. Present insights to IT leadership and the CIO.

  • AI Governance & Risk: Chair or co-chair the AI Governance working group. Establish guardrails, ethical guidelines, and risk frameworks to ensure responsible AI deployment across the enterprise.

  • IT Demand Relief: Serve as the primary intake and triage point for all AI-related requests, significantly reducing the burden on core IT engineering resources.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Prepare executive-level briefings, board presentations, and business cases to communicate AI portfolio status, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership.

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • 8+ years of experience in IT program/project management, with at least 3 years focused on AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics initiatives.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional technology programs from conception to production in an enterprise environment.

  • Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts, large language models (LLMs), generative AI, and data science workflows.

  • Experience with AI governance frameworks, responsible AI practices, and enterprise data privacy requirements.

  • Proven track record in vendor management, contract negotiation, and technology evaluation.

  • Exceptional stakeholder management, executive communication, and business-case development skills.

  • Ability to translate technical AI concepts into business value for non-technical audiences.

  • Experience working within or alongside an IT PMO and familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid).

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

  • PMP or equivalent project management certification.

Preferred

  • Experience in the energy, oil & gas, or offshore drilling industry.

  • Familiarity with enterprise platforms such as IFS, OneStream, or similar ERP/EPM systems.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft AI ecosystem (Azure OpenAI, Copilot, Foundry, Power Platform, Fabric).

  • Experience with data governance platforms and MDM (Master Data Management) initiatives.

  • AI-related certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Machine Learning, Google Professional ML Engineer, Microsoft AI-900/AI-102).

  • Experience leading organizational change management and AI literacy programs.
