Job description

Position Overview:
MTSI is searching for a Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico supporting the Space Rapid Capabilities Office (RCO). This handpicked candidate will provide technical leadership combined with an operational understanding of cybersecurity to protect US Space Force critical infrastructure and information systems against sophisticated adversaries, create mission effects in and through cyberspace, and develop innovative cyber capabilities. The candidate must possess experience with developing, designing, building, and integrating advanced ground and space systems. A successful candidate must be a problem solver with a proven ability to deliver superior results as part of a high performing team in a high-profile, fast-paced environment.
In this position, you will provide System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) to the Space RCO. The Space RCO is one of three US Space Force acquisition organization and is the one specializing in delivering first-of systems to fill quick-turn needs to deliver operational capability to the USSF. For each project, they set up small, agile, and empowered teams to include program manager, technical specialists, contracting, finance, security, and the use right acquisition strategies to set the effort up for success. You will work on one of these small teams where your contributions are directly responsible for the success of each program.
Role and Responsibilities:
  • You will provide cybersecurity engineering support to assigned project team(s).
  • Perform security assessments and develop vulnerability remediation options.
  • Perform engineering activities to attain cyber mission effects.
  • Develop and/or employ cybersecurity tools used within DoD architectures.
  • Synthesize intelligence products and scan results to prepare reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Provides input to the government customer concerning risks to performance, schedule, and budget due to either proposed contractor plans or contractor's execution of accepted plans.
  • Coordinate with multiple partners/agencies to ensure adherence cybersecurity policies while meeting program milestones.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Required skills:
  • Minimum ten (10) years DoD/IC, or relevant industry experience in computer network operations or cybersecurity/information assurance.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of platforms to include Dockers, Containers, AWS & Azure.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of programming languages.
  • Experience in DoD/IC programs as an ISSE and/or ISSM.
  • Experience with Integrated Master Schedules, and risk management
  • Working knowledge of Joint SAP Implementation Guide (JSIG) and or NIST SP 800-37 Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • High level of personal motivation and initiative to learn and acquire new skills and adapt seamlessly to an ever-changing security environment.

Desired skills:
  • Fifteen (15) years of relevant DoD and/or Industry work experience.
  • DoD 8140/DoD 8570 IAM or IAT Level II Certification
  • CISSP certification
  • Experience as a SCA.
  • System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) to Government program office.
  • Expert knowledge in development and fielding of space systems.

Education Requirements:
  • Relevant Bachelor's and Master's degrees.

Clearance Requirements:
  • Active Top Secret clearance with sensitive compartmentalized information (SCI) and special access program (SAP) eligibility.
  • No less than two (2) years total SAP and/or SCI environment experience and 1-year within last 5 years.
  • Must maintain a TS/SCI clearance as a condition of employment and be willing to submit to random Counter-Intelligence polygraphs.

Location & Travel Requirements:
  • This position is full-time, on site in Colorado Springs, CO and will require travel up to 25% of time within the continental United States
