Job Summary/Basic Function
NOTE: The person hired into this position must be a United States citizen.
The Miller Advanced Research and Solutions (MARS) Center, managed by Weber State University's College of Engineering, Applied Science, and Technology (EAST) and located just outside the west gate of Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah, is a state-of-the-art research and development facility supporting advanced aerospace and defense initiatives. The Center partners with industry and government organizations to deliver projects that enable students and researchers to engage in real-world, mission-relevant technologies.
This position operates in a shared capacity supporting both the MARS Center and the College of EAST IT. The role plays a critical part in ensuring the integrity, security, and reliability of IT infrastructure across both organizations, while also supporting specialized research systems and secure data environments at MARS.
As MARS continues expands its digital infrastructure, secure data systems, and advanced manufacturing capabilities, this role is responsible for the development and operation of secure data, cloud, and network systems aligned with CMMC Level 2 requirements. This includes ensuring that digital workflows, information systems, and data handling processes meet federal cybersecurity standards. The position serves as a primary administrator for MARS network and cybersecurity systems while coordinating closely with EAST IT to ensure alignment with university standards and enterprise services.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years of experience in network, systems, or cybersecurity administration roles.
  • Hands-on experience with network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls, segmentation, core services).
  • Experience administering servers and virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, Proxmox, on-prem or hybrid systems).
  • Cybersecurity experience that includes incident response, system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and secure networking.

  • Experience with CMMC Level 2, NIST SP 800-171, or similar compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with enterprise identity, infrastructure, and management tools (e.g., Active Directory, Group Policy, endpoint/virtualization platforms).

  • Scripting or automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
