Job description

Overview

The IS Intern Program is designed to provide students with meaningful, hands-on experience working on purpose-driven projects within a healthcare system. Interns will gain exposure to various IT disciplines while contributing to strategic initiatives that support patient care, operational efficiency, and organizational goals.

This program serves as a pipeline for future talent, fosters community goodwill, and provides departments with additional support on key projects. Interns will explore their career interests while developing technical and professional skills in a real-world healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

Program Structure:

  • Duration: 8-10 weeks
  •  Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week (on-site)

Project-Based Experience:

  • Each intern is assigned a project by their department mentor
  • Projects are pre-approved by Human Resources to ensure alignment with learning objectives
  • Project scope and expectations are provided on day one

Capstone Presentation:

  •  Interns will present their project outcomes and key learnings at the conclusion of the program
  •  Presentation format will be a physical poster board
Qualifications

Qualifications:

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this position:

Required:

Currently enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, an Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree program in Information Technology or a related field.

Internship must be non-mandatory (not required for degree completion)

Basic understanding of IT concepts and a strong interest in healthcare technology

Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Ability to work full-time on-site for the duration of the program

Preferred:

Coursework or exposure in IT support areas such as networking, systems, cybersecurity, data integration, analytics, or applications

Interest in healthcare systems, clinical technology, or health IT environments
