Department Summary
The College of Music at the University of North Texas is searching for a Systems Administrator to join its information technology team. This position will be responsible for the administration, design, implementation, configuration, and maintenance of server hardware, software, operating systems, and security systems.
Position Overview
The Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, design, implementation, configuration, and maintenance of server hardware, software, operating systems, and security systems. This position ensures the reliability and availability of critical technology infrastructure through proactive disaster recovery planning, business continuity measures, and the elimination of single points of failure.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and three years of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department.
* Considerable knowledge of principles of computing and/or communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environments.
* Ability to supervise and train subordinates.
* Ability to operate computer keyboards and to install computer hardware.
* Ability to assimilate, retain, and utilize technical and applications-oriented information.

Job Duties
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for technical support and troubleshooting of hardware, software, and peripheral devices across 210 instructional labs, as well as faculty and staff computing environments.
  • Maintain security compliance for all College of Music instructional workstations, laptops, and virtual servers by implementing operating system updates, security patches, vulnerability remediation, and endpoint protection measures
  • Administer and maintain data backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions for endpoints, servers, and college student file storage systems to ensure business continuity and data integrity
  • Manage IT change management and change control processes, including documentation, risk assessment, implementation, validation, and communication of technology changes to instructors and stakeholders
  • Continuously develop and maintain expertise in operating systems, enterprise applications, infrastructure technologies, cybersecurity best practices, and networking concepts to support evolving organizational needs.
