Position Description
The Ingram School of Engineering seeks to develop a pool of candidates for possible temporary/nontenured faculty positions to teach in the Industrial Engineering Program.
Temporary/nontenured faculty are appointed to teach one to four courses per semester. Teaching appointments are based upon student demand on a semester-by-semester basis. Eligibility for annual reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory annual performance evaluations during the term period, in addition to continuity of funding and school need. Successful candidates will teach at the Texas State University campus in San Marcos, Texas.
This posting is for the fall 2025, spring 2026, and summer 2026 semesters. Please note that this posting is not intended to convey that such a need currently exists. Applicants applying for this pool faculty position will be available to the Industrial Engineering Program search committee for consideration in case the need arises.
Positions are subject to availability of funds.
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of a master's degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
  • Strong academic background in one or more of the following areas: probability and statistics, design of experiments, operations research/prescriptive analytics (exact, heuristic and simulation methods), productivity analysis (i.e., facilities planning, quality engineering, production systems, methods engineering, lean manufacturing, project management, supply chain engineering), human factors, engineering economics, and computational data analytics.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
  • Previous experience teaching undergraduate engineering courses as the instructor of record.
  • Expertise with Industry 4.0 or 5.0 technologies and trends such as digital twins, automation, smart factories, big data, sustainability, and resiliency .
  • Industrial experience.
