Job description

Trident Military Systems is seeking a Contractor Operations and Maintenance Support (COMS) Technician to support Air National Guard (ANG) F-16 Mission Tactics Trainer (MTT) simulators in San Antonio, TX. The individual's primary responsibility will center on maintaining devices that simulate F-16 flight operations, communications systems, subsystems, and electronic signals for communication networks, data links, digital radio, battle management, and command and control systems such as wide and local area networks, point-to-point systems, secure systems, signal coding and modulation schema, digital and wireless radio/communications technology, and network compliance. The Technician's role is instrumental in preparing reports and will work with management to update and track the configuration status of the training devices.

Location: Lackland Air Force Base, Texas

Required Travel: 0 - 10%

What you will do

  • Prepare the system for operation in accordance with (IAW) on-site operational and technical manuals and execute other functions as required by the training system instructor/student.
  • Assist in the operation of the training devices to include Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) activities (e.g., set up, power-on/off, daily operational readiness testing, initialization, and other assistance as required).
  • Diagnose & resolve problems associated with the initialization or operation during each training event.
  • Applies advanced knowledge and experience to solve unusually complex or system problems.
  • Interprets and works with computer systems utilizing various and multiple operating systems.
  • Diagnoses malfunctions of computers associated equipment and performs operability/readiness tests and repairs.
  • Interprets mechanical, electrical, and electronic schematics and drawings and makes simplified versions.
  • Conducts voice communications on phone, inter-phone, and radio circuits.
  • Provides networking and information systems support on training devices and networks.
  • Ensures strict compliance with health, safety, security, and local base procedures, demonstrating our commitment to your well-being and security.
  • Implements essential modifications to existing simulators.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you must have

  • 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in electronics, engineering, flight simulation, or related technical and/or military field(s).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as schematics, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Must have excellent technical writing skills and command of the English language
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Adobe products.
  • Able to successfully manage competing tasks and priorities.
  • Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Must have or obtain DoD 8570 baseline certification for IAT Level II prior to start date.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must have an active or current DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Must be a US citizen.

Preferred Requirements

  • Current CompTIA Security+ certification or related.
  • Technical school graduate or military service school in Avionics Systems or related.
  • Prior experience on the F-16 Aircrew or Maintenance Training System
  • Experience supporting Special Access Program (SAP) efforts.

  • Must be able to distinguish colors

Must have ACTIVE DoD SECRET CLEARANCE with the ability to upgarde to SAP/SAR. Must be a US CITIZEN.
