Cybersecurity Data Analysts are professionals who use data analytics techniques to identify, assess, and mitigate security threats within an organization’s information systems. They analyze large volumes of security data to detect anomalies, investigate incidents, and inform cybersecurity strategies. Their work helps organizations protect sensitive information, maintain compliance, and respond effectively to cyber attacks. Cybersecurity Data Analysts often collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure robust defense mechanisms are in place.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a cybersecurity data analyst?

To thrive as a Cybersecurity Data Analyst, you need a strong background in data analysis, cybersecurity principles, and a relevant degree such as computer science, information security, or data analytics. • Experience deploying, managing, or troubleshooting Docker containers
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and models, including MITRE ATT&CK and the Cyber Kill Chain
  • Experience analyzing system architectures, identifying security gaps, and recommending technical mitigations.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned systems while collaborating effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of Defense-in-Depth architectures, network security principles, operating system hardening, and cloud security concepts.
  • Prior experience supporting federal, DoD, or intelligence community systems.

Desired:
  • Experience supporting DoD cloud environments at Secret, Top Secret, or SAP levels.
  • Experience with GitLab, including source control and CI/CD workflows
  • Experience applying machine learning to cybersecurity or data-analysis use cases
  • Experience supporting U.S. Space Force Defensive Cyberspace Operations for Space, or DCO-S, missions

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Place of work is Colorado Springs; remote work opportunity is limited. You may be required to travel periodically, less than 30%.
