What is a cybersecurity company?

A cybersecurity company is an organization that specializes in protecting the digital assets, networks, and data of individuals and businesses from cyber threats such as hacking, malware, and data breaches. These companies provide a range of services including threat detection, risk assessment, incident response, and security consulting. They also develop and implement security solutions like firewalls, antivirus software, and encryption tools to safeguard sensitive information. By staying up to date with evolving cyber threats, cybersecurity companies help prevent unauthorized access and ensure compliance with security regulations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive at a cybersecurity company, and why are they important?

Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication are valuable soft skills for excelling in this environment. These skills and qualifications are crucial for identifying threats, safeguarding data, and ensuring robust protection for clients or organizations.

Their tech stack includes Go, AWS, Linkerd, Terraform, and GitHub. This role will serve as the technical anchor within a tightknit team working directly with the CTO and Product Manager. You'll be leading backend architecture and shaping the technical direction of the company's next-gen AI platform.

Backed by new funding, the company is rebuilding its software platform in-house with a strong focus on AI-driven threat intelligence and cybersecurity innovation. The team operates with the agility of a startup but now has the resources and stability of an established, well-funded org.

Offer:

Salary: up to $300k+ annually

100% remote (work anywhere in the U.S.)

Full benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage

401(k) with company match

Performance-based bonus or profit-sharing potential as the company scales

High autonomy and impact reporting directly to CTO and shaping long-term architecture decisions

Qualifications:

5-8+ years of backend engineering experience at the Staff or Principal level

Proven experience leading architectural decisions and building complex systems from the ground up

Technical lead experience in a startup or established environment

Expertise in Go, AWS, Linkerd, Terraform, and GitHub

Experience designing and scaling cloud-native infrastructure

AI or cybersecurity experience is a strong plus

Excellent communication and collaboration skills within a small, agile team

Responsibilities:

Strictly backend focus (no front-end work)

Act as the technical anchor for a small, high-performing team

Architect and build the next generation of the company's AI-driven cybersecurity platform

Develop backend systems that enable data collection, threat actor profiling, and automation frameworks

Implement scalable and secure backend services using Go and AWS

Collaborate closely with the CTO and Product Manager to define roadmap and technical strategy

Mentor engineers and champion best practices in architecture, testing, and scalability
