Job description
Roper Technologies | Corporate Cybersecurity
Location
Sarasota, Florida or Remote (U.S.)
Travel Requirements
Approximately 10-15% travel based on portfolio company and engagement needs. Travel may include on-site security assessments, remediation engagements, and acquisition diligence activities.
Position Overview
The Cybersecurity Analyst II is a hands-on cybersecurity professional within Roper Technologies' Corporate Cybersecurity team. This role partners with 29 Roper portfolio companies to assess security posture, identify opportunities for improvement, and strengthen cybersecurity programs across a diverse set of industries.
This is a field-facing position requiring regular interaction with security and technology teams at portfolio companies, both remotely and on-site. Successful candidates are comfortable working in unfamiliar environments, building credibility quickly, and helping organizations make practical, measurable improvements to their security programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct cybersecurity assessments aligned to CIS Controls, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and Roper security standards.
- Identify security risks, control gaps, and improvement opportunities across endpoint, identity, network, cloud, and operational environments.
- Partner with security leaders, engineers, administrators, and analysts to develop practical remediation plans.
- Support security hardening initiatives and help organizations improve their overall cybersecurity maturity.
- Document findings, recommendations, and remediation progress for both technical and business audiences.
- Track remediation activities and follow up on outstanding findings.
- Communicate risks and recommendations clearly to stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of cybersecurity assessment methodologies, standards, and tools.
Roper is an active acquirer, and cybersecurity due diligence is an important part of the acquisition process. Responsibilities include supporting security assessments of acquisition targets, identifying material cybersecurity risks, contributing to diligence reports, and communicating findings in clear business terms.
Incident Response Support
Roper leverages a third-party managed detection and response provider for continuous monitoring and incident response services. The Corporate Cybersecurity team plays an important advisory and coordination role when incidents occur.
Responsibilities include assisting portfolio company teams during active incidents, coordinating with third-party responders, supporting root cause analysis efforts, and helping ensure corrective actions are completed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on cybersecurity experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience conducting security assessments, identifying risk, and supporting remediation efforts.
- Understanding of modern security practices across endpoint, identity, network, and cloud environments.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to build productive working relationships with technical and business stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel as business needs require.
The following skills and experience are beneficial but not required:
- Experience with CrowdStrike security products.
- Experience with Microsoft Entra ID.
- Familiarity with security operations, threat detection, vulnerability management, and security tooling.
- Relevant certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience developing scripts and security automations using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages, with a solid grasp of fundamental programming concepts.
This role provides the opportunity to work across a broad portfolio of businesses, technologies, and cybersecurity challenges. Successful candidates will continue developing their technical, consulting, and leadership skills while taking on increasingly complex engagements and responsibilities.
Why Join Roper
Roper Technologies offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of businesses across multiple industries. Team members gain exposure to a wide variety of technologies, security programs, and business environments while making a direct impact on cybersecurity outcomes.
