The CSSP Trainer shall provide training support for the Battle Captains and Watch personnel for CSSP Cert training work in SCIF. The CSSP Trainer will be centrally managed by DISA J-7 but will be assigned to assist those working in the SCIF area within the command center. The CSSP Certification Trainer will be able to communicate CSSP Training certification requirements to the highest command levels internal and external of the command, while taking guidance from J-7 Division Chief, J-772 DISA Chief Training Branch, and Joint Director (JDIR) leadership. The CSSP trainer should be able to perform support for the various certification functions they perform. This trainer is the training experts for the Battle Captains and members of the Watch as well as leading CSSP Cert training DISA-wide and must be able to work independently with minimum or no guidance.

Primary Responsibilities The CSSP Certification Trainer shall:

• Support all aspects of CSSP training certification, tasks, and options, from required development to transition into operations.

• Establish a community of interest between cyber-Watch security trainers and both industry and government CSSP requirements.

• Support the development of the new innovations scope and objectives, high level requirements development, and conduct CSSP training requirements and achievement of CERT completion and recommended technology acquisition planning support to enable next generation technology investments.

• Elicit inputs for the planning process from cyberspace operations elements (to include assessments) throughout the program community to assure inputs are representative of the community’s full scope.

• Support the continuous performance improvement and standardization efforts based on future capability needs, alternate approaches, flexible applications, and adversary modifications.

• Assist in the maintenance of training databases to ensure accuracy and timelines of records.

• Assist in the tracking and reporting of Agency-level training requirements for the Watch workforce.

• Assist in developing training materials, tracking certification status and report, managing the information.

• Assist in managing tools and reports for the Workforce Improvement Program to include full certification status data.

• Ability to develop working relationships with Technology vendors and partners.

• Understanding of relevant IT technologies, both user-facing and back-end infrastructure technologies.

• Participate in cyber panels, meetings, and working groups as subject matter expert and advisor as it pertains to CSSP engagements.

• Analyze the training curriculum, performance objectives, training plans, certification standards, exercise objectives, and evaluation standards to project future performance objectives

• Assist with the development of training materials to support Watch Training objectives that will ensure Watch Officers possess the necessary skills required to accomplish the mission.

Battle Captain Job Description

Leidos is seeking a highly qualified Watch Officer (Battle Captain) Trainer to support network operations management and workforce readiness initiatives at DISA Headquarters, Fort Meade.

This role is responsible for instructing personnel on network operations processes, procedures, techniques, and mission-critical skills, with a primary focus on course delivery and training execution. The Watch Officer Trainer participates in course definition and development while leading the delivery of advanced training programs. The position requires staying current with training and development research, learning theory, and modern instructional techniques to enhance training effectiveness.

The candidate will plan, develop, and deliver network operations training programs, integrate real-world adversary tactics into exercises, and support enterprise-wide readiness efforts. Responsibilities include curriculum development, performance analysis, certification tracking, and execution of exercises to ensure personnel meet mission requirements.

Primary Responsibilities

• Deliver instructor-led and blended network operations training to watch officers and cyber personnel.

• Support course design, development, and continuous curriculum improvement aligned with mission objectives.

• Plan and execute training exercises, including MSEL development and scenario synchronization.

• Develop After Action Reports (AARs) and integrate lessons learned into training updates.

• Analyze training performance, certification standards, and readiness metrics to improve outcomes.

• Maintain training records, databases, and certification tracking systems.

• Utilize JTIMS and JLLIS to manage training objectives and lessons learned.

• Coordinate training logistics, schedules, and stakeholder engagement.

• Support IT Service Continuity Management (ITSCM) documentation and training-related briefings.

• Collaborate with DISA stakeholders to align training with operational requirements.

• Provide updates and recommendations to Senior leadership on training effectiveness and improvements.

Basic Qualifications

• Education & Experience: Bachelor’s and 8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s with 6 - 10 years of relevant experience.

• Clearance: Active Secret security clearance (required).

• Demonstrated experience in network operations management training, cyber operations, or workforce development.

• Experience delivering training and supporting course development.

• Experience planning and executing exercises and training events.

• Strong understanding of network operations management and training frameworks.

• Experience tracking training metrics and workforce readiness.

• Ability to communicate effectively with Senior leadership and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Clearance: Active Top-Secret/SCI (CAN START WITH SECRET)

• Experience supporting DISA, DoD Cyber, or CSSP environments.

• Knowledge of adversary TTPs and integration into training scenarios.

• Familiarity with JTIMS and JLLIS.

• Experience with Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRRS) and workforce improvement programs.

• Instructional design certification or formal training in adult learning methodologies.

• Experience supporting joint or interagency exercises.

• Familiarity with ITSCM processes and documentation.

• Familiarity with common training platforms (e.g., LMS, virtual training environments, Moodle, Blackboard, DoD training systems, or similar tools).

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
