Cyber Engineering Analyst

Capstone Research Corporation is seeking to expand our team. We provide high level engineering to the Department of War with Integrated Air and Missile Defense Systems Engineering expertise to solve the tough interoperability problems facing Warfighters today. We have an immediate opening for a Cyber Engineering Analyst to support the development of next-generation defense capabilities through mission-focused operational analysis, technical studies, and solution architecture in Huntsville, AL. Working closely with Department of War (DoW) customers, the successful candidate will analyze complex multi-domain operational challenges, develop innovative concepts and requirements, and evaluate mission-level solutions that improve command and control, integrated fires, and decision superiority across joint and coalition operations.

The ideal Cyber Engineering Analyst is a technically skilled and analytically minded professional who thrives on solving complex cybersecurity and mission assurance challenges for the DoW. This individual combines strong programming and data analysis skills with experience developing and executing cyber test methodologies, system survivability, transforming large datasets into actionable insights, and evaluating the effectiveness of cyber capabilities in realistic operational environments. The successful candidate is proficient in MATLAB, Python, database technologies, and statistical or analytical techniques, and possesses the ability to communicate technical findings clearly to engineers, program managers, and government customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and execute cyber analysis and assessment plans, procedures, and analytical methodologies for DoW programs.
  • Develop automated analysis tools using MATLAB, Python, and related scripting languages to process, analyze, and visualize large volumes of cyber and system performance data.
  • Collect, manage, query, and analyze structured and unstructured data using SQL and modern database technologies.
  • Evaluate cyber system performance, vulnerabilities, survivability, resiliency, and mission impacts through quantitative analysis and testing.
  • Support cyber assessments, penetration testing activities, vulnerability analysis, and defensive cyber evaluations in laboratory and operational environments.
  • Develop metrics, dashboards, and reports that communicate test results, operational effectiveness, and technical findings to government stakeholders.
  • Analyze system logs, network traffic, telemetry, and sensor data to identify trends, anomalies, and indicators of cyber threats.
  • Collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, cyber engineers, and government customers to define developmental assessment objectives and validate system performance.
  • Support modeling, simulation, and analytical activities to assess cyber impacts on mission effectiveness.
  • Prepare technical documentation including test plans, procedures, analysis reports, briefings, and recommendations.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and customer briefings.
  • Support continuous improvement of cyber testing methodologies, automation frameworks, and analytical capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
    • Equivalent combinations of education, military experience, and directly relevant professional experience will be considered.
  • 5 years of professional experience supporting cyber testing, cybersecurity analysis, systems analysis, software testing, or related DoW technical programs.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with data analysis, algorithm development, or engineering analysis.
  • Programming experience using for automation, scripting, data processing, and analytical tool development.
  • Experience working with relational databases and SQL, including data extraction, manipulation, and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis, quantitative methods, and analytical techniques.
  • Experience analyzing large datasets and presenting technical findings using charts, visualizations, and technical reports.
  • Familiarity with cyber assessment methodologies, cybersecurity principles, and network architectures.
  • Experience working in Linux and Windows environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, or other Department of War cyber programs.
  • Experience supporting cyber test ranges, cyber exercises, or operational test events.
  • Familiarity with offensive and defensive cyber operations concepts.
  • Experience with packet analysis and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools.
  • Experience using cybersecurity frameworks including MITRE ATT&CK, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, RMF, or DoW cyber standards.
  • Experience with databases such as SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing environments and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience using version control systems such as Git.
  • Familiarity with machine learning, artificial intelligence, or advanced statistical modeling techniques.
  • Professional certifications such as Security+, CySA+, CISSP, CEH, GIAC, GSEC, or related cybersecurity certifications.
  • Experience supporting Agile software development and DevSecOps environments.
