A critical leadership opportunity is now available for qualified Department of War (DoW) employees. The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to fill a Full-Time Supervisory, Chief Engineer position at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas.
This is a unique opportunity to serve as the Branch Chief Engineer for Unified Platform, where you will be instrumental in providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over non-supervisory engineering employees assigned to Unified Platform.
This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel Systems (DCIPS) position implemented under Section 504, Title V of Public Law 99-569, Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1987, as codified in Sec 1601, Chap 83 of Title 10 United States Code which sets forth Air Force policies and procedures for DCIPS. This position is in the Excepted Service.

Citizenship: US Citizenship Required
Security Clearance: Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employees must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
Travel Requirements: The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
Education (Required): Must have a bachelor's degree in related disciplines such as computer, electronics, or mechanical engineering, computer science, or mathematics.
Education (Preferred): A master's degree in a technical related field is highly desired.
Acquisition Requirements: Positions covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) and the employee must meet, or be capable of meeting, Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
Polygraph: Incumbent will be subject to periodic polygraph testing.
Duties
As the Branch Chief Engineer, you will:
Provide the senior engineering support necessary to meet the strategic goals of the Unified Platform Branch.
Be responsible for exercising first level supervisory and engineering authorities for Cyberspace operations.
Apply engineering knowledge in the planning, research, design, development, test, evaluation, integration, acquisition, dissemination, sustainment, modification, and/or exploitation of highly complex electronic and cyber systems.
Perform a broad range of cyber operations capability analyses and engineering assignments entailing unique problems, creativity, innovative use of techniques, and advanced approaches to new technology.
Lead and execute numerous projects providing infrastructure and war-fighting capabilities in support of cyber activities including both unclassified and highly-classified development and sustainment efforts.
We are looking for a leader with:
Expert knowledge of system engineering and management of critical segments of the development, production, and/or deployment of systems.
Skills in communicating clear, risk-based cybersecurity engineering strategy aligned to regulatory requirements.
Proven experience working in cross-functional teams.
A deep understanding of architecting and reviewing secure system designs, including cloud, networking, CI/CD pipelines, and microservices.
The ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing staff.
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.

Recruitment Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Professional knowledge of engineering, mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling/simulation, and/or other scientific concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
