Site IT Manager – Piney Flats, Tennessee

Position Title: Site IT Manager
Location: Piney Flats, TN
Department: Information Technology
Reports To: Director of Information Technology

Position Summary

The Site IT Manager is responsible for providing hands-on IT leadership and operational support for Microporous' manufacturing facility in Piney Flats, Tennessee. This role serves as the primary on-site technology resource, overseeing infrastructure, cybersecurity, end-user support, manufacturing systems support, IT asset management, vendor coordination, and local project execution.

The ideal candidate is a highly technical and customer-focused IT professional who can balance strategic planning with daily operational responsibilities. This position requires strong expertise in networking, systems administration, cybersecurity, help desk, and Microsoft 365.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Network Administration

  • Administer and maintain the site's network infrastructure, including:
    • Firewalls
    • Switches
    • Wireless networks
    • VLANs
    • VPN connectivity
    • Internet circuits
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity.
  • Troubleshoot network outages and connectivity issues.
  • Manage relationships with telecommunications and infrastructure vendors.
  • Support WAN connectivity between corporate and remote locations.
  • Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and inventory records.

Systems Administration

  • Administer Microsoft Windows Server environments.
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file services.
  • Support virtualization platforms such as VMware.
  • Manage backup and disaster recovery systems.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 services including:
    • Exchange Online
    • Teams
    • SharePoint
    • OneDrive
    • Entra ID (Azure AD)
  • Maintain server and workstation patching schedules.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Serve as the local cybersecurity lead for the facility.
  • Monitor endpoint protection, EDR/XDR, and security alerts.
  • Conduct vulnerability remediation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company security policies and standards.
  • Support incident response investigations and remediation.
  • Manage user access reviews and privileged access controls.
  • Participate in security awareness training programs.
  • Assist with audit readiness efforts and compliance requirements.

Manufacturing Technology Support

  • Support production-related technology systems and equipment.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams.
  • Support shop floor devices including:
    • Industrial PCs
    • Barcode scanners
    • Label printers
    • Wireless devices
    • Production terminals
  • Assist with ERP, MES, WMS, and manufacturing application support.
  • Partner with OT vendors and engineering teams while maintaining IT security standards.

End User Support & Service Delivery

  • Resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Manage ticket queues and service requests.
  • Install, configure, and deploy end-user equipment.
  • Maintain IT asset inventory and lifecycle management.
  • Develop and maintain user documentation and knowledge articles.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to employees across all departments.

Identity, Access & Resource Administration

  • Manage onboarding, transfers, and offboarding processes.
  • Provision and deprovision:
    • User accounts
    • Email accounts
    • Security groups
    • Application access
    • MFA enrollment
  • Maintain least-privilege access principles.
  • Perform periodic access certification reviews.
  • Ensure accurate user and role documentation.

Vendor & Project Management

  • Coordinate local IT vendors and service providers.
  • Assist with budgeting and procurement activities.
  • Support corporate IT initiatives and deployments.
  • Lead local technology projects from planning through execution.
  • Participate in ERP implementation, upgrades, and technology rollouts.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain accurate documentation for:
    • Systems
    • Networks
    • Applications
    • Processes
    • Recovery procedures
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience

  • 5+ years of progressive IT support and administration experience.
  • 3+ years supporting manufacturing or industrial environments preferred.
  • Experience supporting 24/7 operations.
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Windows Server environments.
  • Experience managing network infrastructure and cybersecurity tools.
  • Experience supporting ERP systems preferred.

Preferred Certifications

Candidates should possess one or more of the following certifications:

Microsoft

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert
  • Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate

Networking

  • Cisco CCNA
