Job Description:

Systems Engineer

Duties/Responsibilities: Provides research, design, development, engineering, testing, integration, enhancements, and maintenance services associated with IT/communications equipment and infrastructure supporting North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and close partner nations.

  • Designs and develops communications and network solutions to support interoperability and information sharing across multiple networks.
  • Provides engineering expertise to deliver rapid technical capability enhancements of systems and networks,counteract cyber threats, and improve operational activities.
  • Performs Tier II and Tier III Systems Administration support. Provides network assistance and technical support to resolve user problems, service requests, communications, computer, voice, network faults, and outages.
  • Provide support for basic customer issues such as solving usage problems and fulfilling service desk requests that need IT involvement.
  • Manages network user accounts on relevant systems and platforms.
  • Provides End User Device Support (Voice, Data, and Video Devices).
  • Provides Network Infrastructure, Cyber Transport, and Network Core Services support, including maintaining Network Encryption devices (i.e., TACLANEs providing local Secure Internet Protocol Router Network [SIPRNet] connectivity).
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots Wi-Fi network and devices connected to Wi-Fi network.
  • Supports information assurance by updating and maintaining content, classification, and protection of organizational Web sites, and Access management.
  • Provides Information Technology Services Management (ITSM) support, to include Incident/Problem, Change, Service Request and Knowledge Management support.
  • Provides support for Systems Notices, Authorized Service Interruptions (ASI), and scheduled/unscheduled outages.

Minimum/General Experience: This position requires eight years specialized experience.

Functional Responsibilities: Applies subject matter knowledge to high level analysis, collection, assessment, design, development, modeling, simulation, integration, installation, documentation, and implementation. Resolves problems, which require an intimate knowledge of the related technical subject matter. Applies principles and methods of the subject matter to specialized solutions. Analyzes and studies complex engineering requirements and develops solutions. Leads major project technical tasks using formal engineering practices and quality control methods. Interprets requirements and design specifications, analyzes alternatives, and creates a solution, and supports integration and testing, as required. Exercises independent judgement and initiative in solving problems and performing technical tasks having a high degree of complexity. May frequently interact with client staff and may be responsible for directing the activities of assigned technical staff..

Minimum Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a curriculum or major field of study which is closely related to the work to be automated, and/or in a computer science, information system, a physical science, engineering or a mathematics-intensive discipline.

Education and experience requirements may be substituted with:

A Master's Degree (in subjects described above) and four years of relevant experience. No degree and ten years of directly applicable experience. An applicable certificate of training with two years undergraduate work can be considered equivalent to a Bachelor's degree.

The likely salary range for this position is $81,349 - $109,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
