What does a cyber fraud remote professional do?

A Cyber Fraud Remote professional is responsible for detecting, preventing, and investigating online fraudulent activities from a remote location. They analyze digital transactions, monitor suspicious behaviors, and use specialized tools to identify potential cyber threats. Working remotely, they often collaborate with cybersecurity teams and financial institutions to mitigate risks and protect sensitive data. Their role is crucial in minimizing financial losses and maintaining the integrity of online platforms.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a cyber fraud remote professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Cyber Fraud Analyst, you need expertise in cybersecurity, fraud detection, and risk assessment, often supported by a degree in computer science or information security. Familiarity with tools like SIEM systems, anti-fraud software, and certifications such as CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) or CISSP is highly valuable. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills help professionals excel in remote, high-stakes environments. These abilities are crucial for proactively identifying threats, analyzing suspicious activity, and protecting organizations from financial and reputational damage.

What are typical challenges faced by professionals in a remote cyber fraud role, and how can they be effectively managed?

Cyber Fraud professionals working remotely often encounter challenges such as staying updated with rapidly evolving fraud tactics and maintaining effective communication with cross-functional teams. They must also handle high volumes of alerts and ensure secure management of sensitive data outside traditional office environments. Effective management includes leveraging secure collaboration tools, participating in continuous training, and setting up clear protocols for information sharing and escalation. Building strong virtual relationships with IT, compliance, and law enforcement partners is key to staying aligned and proactive against emerging threats.

Job description

About Andesite:
After decades defending the nation's most sensitive networks, we founded Andesite with a clear mission: to build security products that transform how humans and AI collaborate to defend against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
We're a diverse team of cyber and security experts, passionate technologists, and experienced product builders. We come from some of the largest national security, tech, cybersecurity, and data organizations on the planet.
We've raised more than $38 million from investors like General Catalyst and Red Cell Partners.
The future of cybersecurity isn't about better technology alone-it's about reimagining how humans and machines work together. Come build with us.
Available Locations: McLean, VA (hybrid) or Remote (in United States)
Cybersecurity analysts are drowning in an increasingly data-dense security environment. Teams are overburdened. The industry faces a dire talent shortage that threatens the resilience of both government and commercial organizations.
Andesite is building the next generation cybersecurity analyst experience, with an Analyst-Obsessed approach. Our mission is to supercharge the analysts protecting our country's networks. When analysts work in our advanced AI security analytics platform, they can analyze decentralized data sets at scale and more quickly respond to threats. They become better and smarter, just by doing the things they're already built to do.
We have deep experience with this problem. Our team is born out of the security community and comes from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences including the CIA, NSA, military, big tech, and start ups.
After being co-developed by Red Cell Partners' newly-formed Cyber Practice and General Catalyst, we raised a $15M seed round and are rapidly scaling.
The Role:
Don't see the right role but believe in our mission-driven approach, have a desire to solve impossible problems, and possess a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit? Please submit your contact information, resume, and/or cover letter to tell us about your job interest and experience and to be considered for a future opening at Andesite. Please include your interest type and city in your file name. (e.g., John Doe_Marketing.pdf)
Your information will be added to our Talent Community, which we will keep on file. We also recommend that you periodically check our career website and apply directly for positions that interest you.
What We Can Offer:
  • An aggressively competitive salary, bonus, and equity package
  • 100% employer paid, comprehensive health insurance including medical, dental, and vision for you and your family
  • Unlimited PTO, with your manager's approval
  • Flexible work environment where you manage your work day
  • A remote-first environment, with occasional travel to collaborate with customers, your team, and teammates from across the company in person
  • 14 weeks of fully-paid parental leave

Andesite is an equal opportunity employer, and qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender perception or identity, national origin, age, marital status, protected veteran status, or disability status.
We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply, even if you don't feel like you're a perfect fit. If you're passionate about contributing to our mission, we'd love to hear from you!
