About The Opportunity

You will lead Wonder's Platform & Operations Engineering organization, reporting to the CTO. Your scope spans the full technical backbone of the company including cloud infrastructure, developer tools, frontend platform, care technology, merchant operations systems, and logistics and dispatch.

Every engineering team across Wonder Group (Grubhub, Blue Apron, and Wonder) builds on what this organization owns. Your mandate is to lead the platform technical strategy and execution. Maintaining reliably at scale while driving the tech stack consolidation and modernization that positions the business for its next phase of growth.

The Impact You Will Make

Platform & Infrastructure

  • Own the multi-cloud platform across Azure, GCP, and AWS and drive the consolidation planning and execution and simplification strategy

  • Lead container orchestration at scale (AKS), and other foundational stacks like Kafka, Redis, networking, and reliability engineering

  • Drive observability and SRE capability across all brands and workloads

  • Own cloud and software cost management and the infrastructure cost optimization roadmap

Logistics & Dispatch

  • Own the courier/driver marketplace platform, ETA systems, and fulfillment orchestration

  • Ensure logistics infrastructure supports real-time dispatch at oper ational scale across all Wonder and Grubhub delivery surfaces

Developer Tools & Productivity

  • Build and run an AI First engineering tooling and capabilities that make every engineer more productive

  • Own CI/CD, developer experience toolchain, and internal platform tooling across all engineering organizations

  • Build and operate the developer platform that enables engineering velocity across Wonder Group

  • Drive measurable improvement in developer productivity as an organizational capability

Frontend Platform

  • Own shared frontend components and design systems across Wonder, Blue Apron and Grubhub applications and surfaces.

  • Ensure frontend platform enables product teams to move fast without rebuilding foundational components.

Care & Support Technology

  • Own CX operations technology, post-purchase automation, and care tooling

  • Own AI-first care automation via chat and voice

  • Ensure care technology scales with order volume without proportional headcount growth and optimized cost structure

Merchant Operations Systems

  • Own merchant platform, POS integrations, GrubHub for Restaurants, reporting, and Salesforce customer lifecycle management.

  • Ensure merchant-facing systems support the full Wonder and Grubhub merchant base

What You Bring to the Table

  • 15+ years of engineering experience, with 4+ years leading infrastructure or platform engineering organizations at Senior Director level

  • Track record of owning high-availability production platforms at scale - real systems with real operational consequences, if our systems go down our customers don't get their food delivered.

  • Deep experience with multi-cloud infrastructure: Azure, GCP, and AWS in production environments

  • Strong expertise in container orchestration (Kubernetes/AKS), Kafka, observability stacks, and SRE practices

  • Experience leading logistics or real-time dispatch platform engineering is a strong advantage

  • Track record of improving developer productivity and building internal developer platforms

  • Ability to recruit senior infrastructure and platform engineers and build a high-trust, high-output org

  • Comfortable operating across engineering cultures in a fast-moving, acquisition-heavy environment

  • Experience preparing infrastructure and platforms for IPO-level operational maturity and audit readiness

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant STEM discipline-or equivalent practical experience leading complex engineering organizations at scale.

Our hybrid model requires 3 days a week in the office. That said, many team members choose to come in more often to take advantage of in-person collaboration and connection. You're welcome-and encouraged-to be in the office up to 5 days a week if it works for you.

New York: $345,000-$404,500 per year.

Wonder uses geographic-specific salary structures, which means the salary offered may vary depending on where the job is located. The final salary offer will take into account various factors, such as the candidate's skills, education, training, credentials, and experience.
