Position Overview
Located on one of Kiewit's project sites, the Project Quality Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of a site-specific quality plan and all other quality-related functions necessary to deliver the project fully compliant with all required contract documentation. The PQS will interact professionally with the project team and client personnel, have excellent written / verbal communication and conflict resolution skills, manage a diversified workload and challenging situation efficiently and effectively, have a Continuous Improvement (CI) mentality, and takes the lead role on managing quality on the project.
District Overview
Kiewit Power Constructors (KPC) provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a union craft force. Kiewit Power Constructors builds major EPC power plant and solar farm projects throughout North America.
Location
This role will be based out of our office in Lenexa, KS, but will have temporary assignment locations.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years experience developing and implementing construction quality management programs in the Solar, Natural Gas, or Oil/Gas industries.
  • Bachelors or master's degree in mechanical, electrical, welding, civil engineering, industrial or related discipline (preferred) OR comparable experience/military background.
  • Exceptional math, computer, verbal and written communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-starter with organizational, managerial, and leadership skills. Must be able to manage teams up to 20 personnel, have effective organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong public speaking and technical writing skills. Must be able to communicate to large groups craft personnel as well as management and client teams.
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
  • Ability to travel and/or temporarily relocate as required.
  • Certifications from AWS, CWB, API, ACI, ICBO, ASNT, NACE, etc. are advantageous.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a successful quality program based upon contract requirements and company quality standards.
  • Directly supervise and manage inspection and testing personnel.
  • Develop positive and trustworthy relationships with the client.
  • Provide technical expertise, troubleshooting and solutions for quality issues.
  • Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping is performed, validated and easily retrievable through audits.
  • Promote and enforce quality processes with the goal of performing work right the first time.
  • Communicate quality control information to all relevant organizational departments, outside vendors, or contractors.
  • Ensure that all non-conformance work is properly reported, tracked and documented.
  • Research, read and interpret construction plans, standards and specifications.
  • Assist with the development of root cause analysis.
  • Personally meet deadlines and contribute in a positive, safe, professional and high-quality project.
