About the Role
Cvent is seeking a Database Engineer to help design, manage, optimize, and secure enterprise database platforms across Cvent's portfolio of products. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience managing one or more cloud database technologies, with at least one being a relational database, and a strong desire to learn and manage database technologies of all types. The candidate should also be familiar with using Infrastructure as Code and other automation for managing databases.
As a Database Engineer at Cvent, you will collaborate with development teams to implement, optimize, and secure the data stores powering Cvent's products. You will build and use automation capable of managing fleets of databases while maintaining Cvent's standards and best practices. You will also help us to continuously evaluate and improve those standards and best practices to ensure that we continue to provide the resilient, scalable, performant, and secure database platforms possible.

  • Design, develop, and manage databases on the AWS cloud platform
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data requirements and ensure that the databases meet their needs.
  • Implement and manage database security policies, including access control, data encryption, and backup and recovery procedures.
  • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Optimize database performance by fine-tuning the database schema, queries, and indexing strategies.
  • Ensure that database backups and disaster recovery procedures are in place and tested regularly.
  • Develop and maintain database documentation, including data dictionaries, data models, and technical specifications.
  • Stay up to date with the latest cloud technologies and trends and evaluate new tools and products that could improve database performance and scalability.

  • Minimum 2 - 5 years of experience
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL Server and AWS database services such as Amazon Aurora/RDS, DynamoDB, and Amazon Redshift
  • Strong understanding of database design principles, data modelling, and normalization
  • Experience managing highly available databases in AWS
  • Expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases and the ability to write efficient SQL queries and optimize query performance for Postgres and MySQL databases.
  • Deep understanding of database security principles and best practices

Nice to have:
  • AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or AWS Certified Database Specialty are a plus.
  • Experience with document store technologies, such as Couchbase or MongoDB
