Job description

Job Summary Promotes and markets City of Grapevine, its meeting facilities, hotels, festivals and events, attractions, restaurants and retail to potential users. Essential Functions 1. Implements marketing and sales plans and strategies to solicit through written and verbal methods various groups, organizations, corporations, etc.

for the purpose of developing potential hotel and/or facility, attractions, etc. users, with focus on regional and national markets. 2.

Implements tele-sales efforts targeted primarily at bringing business users to Grapevine hotels, meeting facilities, attractions, or festivals and events. 3. Exhibits at trade shows promoting Grapevine's convention facilities and services, hotels, meeting areas, visitor attractions, etc.

4. Develops and conducts personal sales missions with a focus on the regional market, referrals, and repeat business. 5.

Maintains product knowledge by onsite visits and regular liaison with industry partners. 6. Updates and maintains records and reports in sales management software as required for effective account management.

7. Develops and prepares sales call reports, leads and correspondence for potential and established clients and follow up through planned marketing efforts, bid packets and direct mail campaigns. 8.

Attends and participates in department and/or hotel sales meetings. 9. Maintains a close working relationship with hotel sales and service staff.

10. Assures the implementation of marketing and sales programs for Grapevine hotels, facilities, attractions, festivals and events, etc. 11.

Assures knowledge of current facilities and services available. 12. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.

13. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position. 14.

Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers, and others in the course of daily work. Required Skills SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES Must have the ability to see a project from beginning stages through to fruition. Must have strong financial and budgeting skills.

Must have excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to be a team player and work well in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and skilled in the operation of computers and performing data entry as well as data base management with the ability to maintain accurate records and statistics. Knowledge of office and business procedures, city policies, rules and regulations, applied health and alcohol laws and regulations.

Must have willingness to physically participate in the set up and tear down of festivals and events. Must have knowledge of marketing and sales theories, principles and practices. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Requires a high school degree plus four years of customer service and three years of sales and marketing experience in hotels, convention centers, convention and visitor bureaus or associations, or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Bachelors degree is preferred. Flexibility and overnight travel required. Must pass a credit check and Federal/National criminal background check.

Must have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen. WORKING CONDITIONS While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is rarely exposed to disagreeable environmental factors.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This job requires the ability to work in an office environment where the noise level is usually moderate.
