Job description

To provide customers with the highest quality service by providing consistent customer service and resolution in order to ensure timely release and/or inbound or outbound movement of freight/cargo.

Provide and ensure a high level of customer service by developing and maintaining a strong relationship with customers' front line personnel in the various operating divisions and subsidiaries. Prepare, analyze, and/or submit documentation to the appropriate parties (U.S. Customs, agents, clients) in order to ensure they are in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations relating to customs and transportation. Anticipate, identify, and resolve problems which could delay the timely release or movement of freight. Maintain relationships with correspondent brokers, T&B, and other service providers to ensure that agents exceed the customers' service requirements. Resolve banking and letter of credit problems. Advise customers on payment terms. Resolve billing issues and ensure that invoicing and vendor payments are billed accurately. Complete accurate data input or corrections into computer files. Obtain payment on delinquent accounts and/or complete accounting adjustment forms for review. For transportation associate customer service reps: develop rates and/or provide quotes for the movement of freight. Research and negotiate carrier rates. Resolve billing issues, coordinate post entry activity on customer's behalf.

High school diploma/GED. Proficient computer skills. Strong cust svc, organizational & communication (written/oral) skills. Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations & other federal regulations and requirements w/respect to specific area of expertise (chb, air trans, ocean trans, surf trans). Chb: proficient in H.T.S. Classification & familiary w/the harmonized trafiff system. Air trans: dept. Of commerce & treasury regulations such as export licensing & schedule b tariff classifications. Banking requirements for int'l trade. Regulations regarding dangerous goods shipping & foreign regulations. Ocean trans: bsa - icc 400/500/322. Hazardous materials, shipping act of 1984, plant quarantine, usda regs, sgs & other independent surveyor & tariff re- quirements. Surf trans: regs for import/export; DOT. Basic math skills for conversions to metric and currency evaluations. One (1) year of work/field experience preferred.


HS Diploma or GED required. 6 months of brokerage or transportation experience and/or customer service experience preferred. MS Office, Outlook, Office equipment (phone, fax, photocopier, printer, scanner) required.

Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. Organizational Skills. Inter-personal skills. Problem solving Skills.

Handle high volume of work. Handle time sensitive work. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Detail oriented. Knowledge in HTS classification & familiar with the harmonized tariff system. Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations & other federal regulations and requirements with respect to specific area of expertise. Paid Training Provided.


Preferred Qualifications:

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

Pay: 22.64 - 31.70 USD Hourly

Additional Details: Onsite Monday-Friday 8AM – 5PM

In New Jersey, any compensable Security and Walk time will be paid to non-exempt/hourly employees at the state minimum wage.
