Job description

Stellantis is seeking a creative, passionate and strategic policy leader who will identify opportunities to develop and implement political, legislative and emission policy strategies to promote company interests. This dynamic role will work collaboratively with state and local officials on a variety of issues, such as emissions, dealer franchise, data/privacy, vehicle safety and taxes.
Position is based in Sacramento with work from home. This role will report to the Vice President of Corporate Affairs (State and Local) and will lead policy advocacy, lobbying, and external relationship development activities for a regional state portfolio including California and other western states.
The Corporate Affairs Director for California and Western States is responsible for the development and implementation of political and legislative strategies to promote Stellantis' interests, in close coordination with other members of the Corporate Affairs team. Primarily responsible for developing legislative and administration support for key Stellantis priorities by conducting meetings with Governor Office, Legislators, California Air Resources Board, staff, committees of jurisdiction, and other policy officials to communicate Stellantis' positions on state policy and emissions issues. Develop close, ongoing working relationships with state, local and regulatory representatives of key Stellantis facilities and support interactions between government officials and Stellantis leadership. Work with internal business units in coordination with other members of the Corporate Affairs team to (1) provide "early warning" on legislative, executive branch, and regulatory developments; (2) keep management informed of potential impacts to Stellantis; and (3) develop Stellantis' policies with persuasive arguments and supporting data. Coordinate with trade associations, non-governmental groups, and others stakeholders to ensure their advocacy is consistent with Stellantis policy priorities. Draft legislative testimony and position papers to convey Stellantis positions.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Define and implement strategies to promote company interest before state and local governments
  • Analize and evaluate proposed legislation, regulations and ordinances
  • Coordinate company policy position development with internal departments
  • Represent company before state/local governmental bodies and provide testimony at public hearings
  • Prepare testimony, position papers, summaries and presentations
  • Coordinate facility visits
  • Initiate and maintain strong working relationships with state governors, legislators, local officials, trade associations, and non-governmental groups

Basic & Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • A minimum of 8 years' experience working in state government, or government affairs, preferably in California
  • Experience working with state legislators or administrative agencies
  • Experience in automotive/emissions policy issues
  • Knowledge of legislative and regulatory process, especially in California
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strategic thinker who can translate strategy into measurable results
  • Possesses superior leadership, project management, and
  • Motivated self-starter who thrives in highly collaborative environment
  • Master's Degree preferred

The salary range for this role is $173,000-259,600.
