Summary

Business Development Manager, Account Director will be responsible for selling DSVโ€™s Air & Sea transportation and logistics services to prospective and existing clients, with an emphasis on complex, multi-modal forwarding solutions across air, ocean, customs, and value-added logistics. This role requires an elite sales profile with a proven hunter mentality, immediate pipeline generation capability, documented customer expansion, and sustained quota overachievement. The successful candidate should bring strong local market knowledge, existing executive-level relationships, an active book of business, and deep experience leading strategic RFQs/RFPs in the international freight forwarding industry.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue, GP, and growth targets.
  • Generate immediate qualified pipeline through proactive hunting, prospecting, executive outreach, and expansion of existing customer relationships.
  • Lead complex RFQs/RFPs and sell integrated, multi-modal forwarding solutions across air, ocean, customs brokerage, and value-added logistics.
  • Establish, maintain, and expand executive-level relationships with clients, including regular follow-up, business reviews, and strategic account planning.
  • Collaborate with operations, pricing, product, and trade lane teams to ensure customer requirements are met and solutions are executable.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service solutions with customers.
  • Manage the sales pipeline and update the CRM system with accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitive activity, and local market developments, and provide feedback to the management team.

Educational background / Work experience

  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of successful sales experience in international freight forwarding, preferably within Air & Sea logistics.
  • Current management of at least $1.5M+ in revenue or $250K+ in GP, with documented growth, customer expansion, and measurable sales performance.
  • Experience selling complex Air & Sea forwarding solutions through international logistics providers is strongly preferred over domestic brokerage experience.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Strong hunter mentality with the ability to generate pipeline quickly and convert opportunities into profitable growth.
  • Ability to shape solution strategy, lead executive-level discovery, coordinate cross-functional pricing and operations input, and present multi-modal value propositions.
  • Strong local market knowledge and existing relationships within the specific territory or target verticals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with CRM software, preferably Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A proven track record of sales success in international freight forwarding, with sustained quota overachievement and strong conversion history.
  • Active book of business and established executive-level customer relationships in the local market or target verticals.
  • Demonstrated success expanding strategic accounts, increasing wallet share, and delivering measurable revenue and GP growth.
  • Familiarity with international trade and regulations.
  • Experience in Air & Sea freight forwarding and customs brokerage; international forwarding experience is prioritized over domestic brokerage.
  • Fluent in English (oral and written)
  • Fluent in Spanish (oral and written)

Computer Literacy

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with CRM software.

For this position, the expected base pay is: $122,000 - $150,000 / Annual. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, geographic location and other objective business considerations.
